The room was spotless and beautifully furnished; the bathroom was modern with plenty of shampoo, soap etc. The hotel itself has kept the charm of its age but with modern facilities. This was a very short trip to Welshpool to re-visit Powis Castle and gardens. Appreciated the hearty breakfast before walking up to Powis and walking the gardens for hours. Room was wonderful. The Royal Oak Hotel took me back in time to a place where courtesy and pride of place rule.

My room was absolutely lovely. A very cosy single with a comfy bed, great radio and TV, tea and coffee facilities and a brilliant shower and bathroom. It was all fantastically clean and I was very impressed. Also all the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Finally, although I don't eat much at breakfast, the scrambled eggs and tomato was delicious. I wish I could have gone of the Welsh breakfast!
