Great all-inclusive in Zanzibar

Pros: Entertainment was top notch. The African dances were so good the 3 nights we were there. I don't usually like the resort buffets but the buffet here was very good. The food was tasty well seasoned and abundant. Fatma and Asma took such good care of us since we went there several times throughout our stay. Cons: While the buffet is amazing trying to get reservations at the restaurants is very very difficult. We only went to Krystals. The instructions are to make your reservations via the RIU app but we were never able to make a reservation thru the app. The app is very faulty. At the Palace front desk they told us to go to the Jambo front desk for those restaurants. When I did this the agent desk basically told me keep trying with the app and the resort is full. I have never been to a resort where I wasn't able to make reservations for the restaurants. Front desk staff is a bit slow. At check in we were told late check out is $20/person/hour and to just arrange it the day before. Well it was a process to get to say the last since my space here is limited. Will expand on Trip Advisor. Overall I would say it's a great resort, but it's lacking if you are comparing it with the Caribbean and Mexico. I would not recommend you go out of your way to go to Zanzibar from the US but if you are in the area, the beach is beautiful and an all inclusive is always just what the doctor ordered.

What an incredible holiday! The staff really make this place and are always so friendly and welcoming. We had the most amazing upgrade from the one of the female managers at reception. Thank you so much. This made what was already going to be a wonderful holiday into something unforgettable. I can not recommend this place more highly! The food variety is great and you can book excursions through a tour provider at the hotel. Everything was seamless and easy to navigate. Also a very special thank you to Neema who cleaned our room everyday to perfection!

Some areas for improvement including (1) having better signage - it's a huge site and many people were getting lost (2) improving the buggy service - we requested buggies to collect us and despite calling in advance they were delayed/didn't turn up...

We had a wonderful honeymoon at this hotel. Everything was perfect until the check-out. The day before, the staff had confirmed that we could leave our three suitcases at the hotel while we went on safari. We had even tried to book two additional nights to return to the hotel after the safari, but it was fully booked. On the morning of our departure (4:30 a.m.), while our agency was waiting for us, we were suddenly told we could not leave our luggage, even though we only wanted to pick it up the next day. The first staff member offered no solution, and the second laughed in our face, which was very hurtful. We felt no support at all, only indifference. This service is standard practice in hotels around the world we have stayed in many hotels and have always been able to leave our bags for several days without issue. What affected us most was the frustration: a contradiction of information that left us extremely stressed at the very last minute. Had we known earlier, we would have obviously found another solution. This indifference made us doubt all the other services as well if a renowned hotel takes such a situation so lightly, it makes you wonder what else they take lightly. I even got sick one night after dinner, but at the time I didn’t attribute it to the hotel. After this experience, however, I can’t help but question it. This situation ruined the end of our stay and forced us to leave for our safari with our minds completely preoccupied. For a hotel of this level,

There was a guy name Allen that helped us and he was soooo professional!! He helped make our stay enjoyable.. This is by far one of the best resorts i've ever stayed in.. I'm not a buffet food eater however the buffet food was amazingly good.. Thank you
