We had a great stay at Villa Romantica! The room was rather big but clean and cosy, the pool is beautiful and the breakfast buffet great though small. We had everything we needed just a few streets away in the town. The guys in the reception were super friendly and helpfull with everything we needed, would definately stay there again!

The hotel is fine - nothing bad, but no real standout experience either. The Jacuzzi is not heated, and the pool is too cool to use after dark. The most interesting experience of the stay was watching a group of monkeys come thru the trees around the pool area; they jumped from tree-to-tree and hung out for about 45 minutes one day. The breakfast is good.

I had booked this hotel about 6 months prior, so was a little taken aback when I was taken to the last room on the bottom floor. First, I thought, great...it will be quiet but found that it was the dumpiest room they had, the toilet didn't work and the 9" x 9" TV couldn't be seen if you were lying in bed and the bed was not good. When I asked for another room, the girl told me there were no other rooms. I had been travelling all day and there was no other bathroom on the premises, so I had to walk into town to find a bathroom. When I returned, the toilet still wasn't fixed but there was another clerk on the desk and when I spoke to him, he immediately found me another room that I was completely happy with. I was so relieved and it changed my perception immediately. I loved the pool, I could sit there all day and read - not a lot of sun but always a cool breeze and monkeys in the morning. Breakfast (included in your room rate) is your basic eggs, toast, fruit, cereal and coffee with processed meat slices. Not a fan of the meat but the rest was okay. WiFi is spotty and you can seldom get it in your room or the pool but always at the reception area. You "do not" have to pay for the lock box even though their website says there is a small charge for it. I really enjoyed my week here. Just on the outskirts of town so nice and quiet but only a 5 minute walk into town. Perfect!

The distance to the beach from the description and pictures was not what I was expecting. It said 1.6km to the beach, but you actually have to drive 5-6km to get there.
The condition and service is average.

A charming secluded hotel close to a busy town. The town is within walking distance, yet the location of the hotel is private and peaceful. Friendly and helpful staff.
My complaints are the rooms, old and tacky curtain and floor rug. The bedding and towels are also old and of low quality.

I went to this hotel by myself but definitely can see how it can be considered romantic. I wish I would have stayed longer. I was the only guest during my stay and had great service. The room is basic but it has private air conditioning. The owner offered to put me in the room furthest from the busy road. I went for a swim in their amazing pool. The hot tub was not hot but I was not disappointed. Breakfast was nice and included. It is not in front of the ocean as google maps suggests, but is a short 10 minute walk. I would definitely stay here again.

We were on our way to Osa and needed a place to stay. There could not have been a better place. Management accommodated our need in every way. On top to that we met other travelers who were on their way and enjoyed interacting with them.

I stayed here for three nights, and as it was low season, I was sometimes the only person there. Staff was friendly and helpful when they could be, but could have been more knowledgeable and available at times. The pool is beautiful and well-kept, and there's a nice breakfast in the morning. The public computer was broken, but they let me check my email on the laptop behind reception.

We were looking for a hotel close to Manuel Antonio Park and Quepos, and this looked nice online. The room was fairly stark, however, and dated. Cleanliness was so-so, and initially it did not appear to have AC, though we found there was a unit in the closet(!). The bathroom was adequate, except there were 3 windows, and 2 of them were open screen. The bed was a low platform bed, very firm, and the television a small CRT type, but the reception was so bad it was academic. There is avery nice garden area and the pool was ok, clean, but rapidly losing tiles. The people (especially Christina) were very cordial and helpful, though, and the food was very good. Not a bad experience, really, and we were not expecting luxury conditions, but it felt a little shabby and down at the heels. The surrounding area seemed a little gritty, even a bit frightening, but proved safe when all was said and done.

I would recommend this hotel to someone who wants a very quiet place to stay and who didn't care about comfort. The building is getting run down. Our toilet was broken and my husband repaired it during the night as it just kept running. The staff was very pleasant but not all that helpful with questions about places to eat or the area in general. There is no secure parking. The manager had us drive our car onto the grounds on a driveway that was too small to go through even with out small car. We ended up having to back down the driveway. It was evident that others had tried to drive through and failed....a large piece of concrete was missing off the wall.

Good location, friendly staff and clean rooms. Some issues with the air conditioner which was not working properly and limited parking space. Overall, not a bad place with a nice swimming pool. You might even get to see the Capuchin monkeys, squirrels or some colourful birds.

We had a nightmare experience with our flight into C.R. due to recent bad weather. Instead of arriving at the hotel at 5:00 pm as scheduled, we arrived at 2:00am the following morning. We called ahead to inform the hotel of our delay and they indicated that it was "no problem." because they were a 24 hour hotel. When we arrived, the hotel was dark, however there were 2 staff and 1 security guard present. All were very pleasant and escorted us to our room. It was very clean and comfortable. The landscape is beautiful and the breakfast is outstanding. An excellent value for the price

We stayed two nights at the Villa which was very nice. The room was clean and the staff friendly. We stayed in a room across from the pool, Room 1, which had a nice little terrace where we had coffee in the morning. I did fall asleep in the hammock as well that was out front of our room. The grounds are lovely and it's close to town but not noisy.
The pool is small, very cold and not that clean! I didn't swim in it. We had breakfast there in the morning, it was included and it was fresh, good food. We did not eat lunch or dinner there.
I would recommend this hotel for a short stay or if you are looking to be close to town and not hear the noise.
