The photos of the property were incongruous with the reality of the room. The damage and lack of upkeep in the room strongly affected my negative impression of the overall property. Though the location is perfect for access into harpers ferry and c&o trail, and the view outside the room is awesome, the smell in the room and overall lack of attention makes the experience not worth the price I paid. Also, clearly, Internet has not been available for some time at the property.

I stayed here for a night and honestly slept so well. The bed was super comfortable and felt fresh and clean. The motel itself looks modern and well taken care of. Everything in the room worked perfectly, which I really appreciated. The staff was friendly and helpful from check-in to checkout. It felt like a relaxing and easy stay overall.

I wasn’t expecting much, but this motel impressed me. The room was bigger than I thought and very clean. The bed was comfortable and I slept through the night. The bathroom was well kept and smelled fresh. Hot water worked perfectly for a long shower. Parking was easy to find and convenient. The staff was helpful and friendly. I’d happily come back here.

All Good, Will Be Back

Was exactly what I needed for a solo bday trip to the area. Minimal, friendly, clean. Didn’t mind that it’s obvious the place has been there a while. The parking lot has a huge pothole, which isn’t great. Just drive around it and be grateful for the great price and nature at your doorstep.

We used the Hillside before and after taking the MARC train from Brunswick, MD, to Washington, DC, for a few days. It was also our base for exploring Harpers Ferry. It is a simple, clean, and convenient property. Check-in was quick. The A/C was quiet and efficient. We enjoyed mornings and evenings on the covered porch.

Pictures on their website or yours via your link to whatever are either very old or somewhere else. They show a nice breakfast hall and really nice rooms. Nothing in the photos exist. I stayed somewhere else and just forfeited the money.

Good enough for the price and the novelty of it.

The room was small and in disrepair. It was still safe, clean, working facilities and free of bugs. Parking was a bit confusing but all in all it was okay. We just need a place to sleep while traveling this worked out. If you're a fan of The Blair Witch Project movie - part was filmed here. So, thats kinda cool.

The room was clean and nice. The water wouldn’t get hot. Finally after running it for 5 minutes, And couldn’t get the tv to turn on. Would stay again, The manager showed us the room before we checked in.

Very nice and friendly staff, very accommodating but the bathroom was never cleaned after previous guest left. I found hairs on the blanket. Microwave was broken.

I liked chill clerk, that the location was close to my destination, and the budget price. I didn't like noisy room heater, shower bar had been torn off walls, dirty chair covering. Definitely expect a dated, older,cheap/budget accommodation.

Run down stay away

The room itself was somewhat clean, quiet and comfortable. But the hotel was rundown, looked like the grass hasn’t been cut for months and there was no breakfast room, they lied about that on their website. They were using the previous owners webpage, the knights inn, pictures. It’s not what it looked like when we got there. The towels had stains and the sink faucet wasn’t bolted down. You had to hold down the faucet just to turn it on. No pride in ownership. We will never stay there again.

2 Star accommodation but price is fair for the area. It's real close to the C&O Canal and Harpers Ferry, and plenty of space for cars, trucks, and bikes for each unit. Beds and drawers are spacious and A/C&Heating unit always worked fantastically. Mini fridge and microwave is OK and always worked. They're college dorm size but you won't be making complex meals while staying here... For around the area, there's not much but there is a gas station/convenience store right across the street with some hot food and useful household items. And it sits right next to a great Bar&Grill. Though make sure to stock up on the goodies cause there's nothing else around or open after 9pm, unless you go east towards Brunswick. Oh, and a liquor store right next door to the property which has some great stock! Downsides are that your unit may have broken furniture and/or dead bugs to clean up on arrival. You also might need to escort some crickets out of the room, unless you really enjoy their nightly songs. Provided hand/bath towels are clean but clearly old and a bit cheap. I would bring my own if possible or buy some decently better cheap ones at a store on the way. But again, 2 star motel in a rural area of MD. It's not bad at all, and I'll probably stay here again! Friendly staff as well.

When I checked in the attendant asked me to look at the room to see if it was OK. Bad sign .. the ceiling had mold that was sprayed over it. When I turned the heater on a borderline infestation of stink bugs came out from the curtains. The was also stained and worn furniture and the beds were hard as hell.
