The hotel has historic resonance, and the heroic cleaning staff do a great job. Perhaps some of the nicer rooms have some character. But the front office staff is indifferent at best. The woman at the bar was almost hostile? This should be a treasure of the would-be UNESCO heritage site but is an embarrassment. Set up to accommodate group tours spending a brief night as they quickly traverse Senegal, it might just survive. But things could be much better. Beware the mediocre breakfast which is generally plundered by staff before 8am for which they charge CFA6000 and do not replenish.

Excellent comfortable and in a great location

This hotel is by far one of the most comfortable, clean and spacious hotels i have stayed in. Located in the heart of st louis island, the receptionist Aja was incredibly kind and frriendly, she helped me arrange transportation to my demdik back to dakar, thank you so much for an incredible stay. If you are visiting st louis i highly recommend this hotel Yasmin

Nice but some issues

Very charming hotel in front of the bridge with pleasant staff but 2 issues during this stay. Firstly, we were not told before booking that building works were going on in the floor below. This disrupted our rest during the day after a 5 hour trip by road. Secondly, the towels are very old and have a mouldy odour.

Pros: Great location. Theres parking right outside the hotel. Good staff. The common areas have a nice old world feel. Cons: The rooms and bathrooms could do with some updating. Not sound-proofed, so will need earplugs.

Good hotel

This is a nice hotel and the best option if you want access to a pool in SL. The pool was closed when we were there…I would have stayed at Siki (where I have been many times in the past) if I had known. All of the staff were kind of lovely. The hotel is tired but has a fascinating history and a nice interior courtyard. The location is convenient but also a target for dudes trying to sell you stuff.

Hotel de la Poste is full of history and charm. The rooms, however, are not: they are simply old and tired. It was great to be right next to the historic Pont Federhbe, though this also means a lot of noise. It's a trade-off. Keep in mind that to access the (also very tired) pool, one has to walk down the street. The food and rooms at this hotel are highly overpriced for what is offered. On a positive note: the staff are very welcoming and friendly, and seem constantly to be cleaning!
