The location is convenient. I like the free breakfast. The room was clean and neat. There was a microwave oven and refrigerator. Cable tv and free wifi. However, several lights were out: above the bed, at the desk and at the other end of the dresser. A minor inconvenience.

Lobby was like a sauna. It was SO hot. Door to room drug on door frame so was very difficult to close. Ceiling in stool/tub area was falling down and had blue painters tape holding up some drywall. The sink border where it meets the wall it came off in globs when wiped with a tissue. Granted, this was the cheapest room in Pittsburg, but for good reason. And to say breakfast was provided was a joke. A couple bananas and several muffins with a gallon of milk and coffee does not constitute breakfaat in my opinion based on other hotels in the area (at which I will be staying at next time).

Clean but outdated room security

The hotel room was clean but very outdated. The location was great. The price was very reasonable, however there is a security trade off for that. The hotel uses actual keys, and there is no peephole in the door. It felt like the door could be kicked in easily. At checkout, keys are left in a basket at the front desk. They could be taken & easily copied. The front desk is not staffed on a regular basis but there is a camera recording all action. The bed was really comfortable and free breakfast was minimal. There was no elevator so we had to walk up steps to our room. Due to the lack of room security, I would not stay here again. If you’re ok with the risk, this hotel is a great bargain.

Mixed smoking rooms next to non-smoking rooms. Hall smelled of cigarettes and pot. Shower had so much mold. On the ceilings, in the corners and edges. Furniture is broken. Dressers were broken and non usable. Breakfast consisted of 1 or 2 types of cereal, white bread, milk and Sunny D. If you make it there before 7am then there might be muffins. When things are depleted they are not refilled. They have people coming in and out of the building at all hours of the night being loud.

Great Turnaround!!!

I don't have anything negative to say about Holiday Lodge. They've come a long way in the last year. It used to be a hotel filled with trouble and bad news. The kind of place you didnt want to leave your car unattended. But the owner has gotten rid of the rifraf and straightened things out. They've done a 180 and made it an enjoyable experience. Hats off to them for turning things around. 5 stars all the way around.

If you have champagne and caviar taste on a Natty Light budget, you won't like it. But if you live in the reality that you pay for what you get, it's perfectly matched. The staff was extremely friendly and consistently checked to make sure we had everything we needed.
