Our stay was totally ruined by both an ant infestation and the appalling subsequent attitude and approach of the management.
There was a trail of dead ants in the bathroom after our first night. On the second night, however, there was an ant infestation - both regular and flying. They were ants of both variety in every room of the apartment, as well as in the bed, bedsheets, tables and all over the floor. They were ants all over our food and landing in our hair.
As the other apartments were all in use, the management arranged for us to stay in their sister hotel in Šibenik. On challenging the issue the next day, however, the hotel denied that ants have ever been a problem. This is clearly not the case. Two Trip Advisor reviews talk about the ant problem. The taxi driver and assistant had also mentioned to us about how “they have always had a problem with ants” at the apartments.
Management essentially refused to refund any money as they claimed they had fulfilled their obligations by putting us up in another hotel. They refused to acknowledge the fact that not only was our night ruined but we hadn’t got what we paid for, namely an apartment with a pool and access to the beach.
Putting us up in their sister hotel was clearly an established practice and a way to get around having to refund us any money or compensate us beyond comping us two glasses of wine.
