This hotel has a fantastic location right non Lake Superior. We had a lakeside room and the view was amazing. Enjoyed sitting on the lake after dinner in Grand Marais. Sunrise was amazing! The staff had opened the breakfast early for us as we were leaving for Superior Hiking Trail early in th emorning. Will book again!

Just as so many others pointed out, the place is very dated but then again, you get what you pay for. On the plus side, the shower was great, the location was the best, the staff did their very best. It was sad to see the place so run down. I stayed there many years ago and a great investment is required now to bring it to it's former glory. I would advise people to pay more and stay elsewhere if you feel like you can't accept the place as it is.

Location is everything, and you pay for it in Grand Marais. This hotel is in a great spot. Hotel and rooms are worn and old, but the view makes up for it. Cute little breakfast provided in the morning. Very friendly staff.

The hotel was quaint and lovely. We enjoyed our stay very much. We sat at the tables in the lobby and played cards as the weather was rainy and cold when we visited. We got to watch the fog roll in and out along the shore from the wonderful windows in the lobby. The hotel is a little dated, but we didn't mind. It was clean and homey and perfect for our stay. I would highly recommend staying here.

The staff was so helpful and the location is perfect! You could walk to anywhere in town. It is a old building so my expectations were not super high but if you go in with that mindset you will be happy. The only 2 things I would say would be that they need blackout shades on the windows especially the ones facing the East side, and then the ice machine ran out of ice so quickly that it couldn't keep up with demand from all the guests (maybe a bigger machine with more capacity). We would stay here again!

The evening staff was very helpful. The smoke detector was going off and they figured out how to replace the battery. The deck was a beautiful spot for relaxing and viewing Lake Superior. The Inn wasn’t in good shape. The ceiling in the hallway upstairs was falling apart and soaking wet, as was the floor underneath that area. It all smelled damp. The mattresses in the room were older as were the mismatched bedspreads. One of the mattresses was sagging in the middle, so much so that it was impossible to get a good night’s rest. I woke up with a sore neck and very tired each morning. The morning staff seemed receptive to the need for a new bed.

Thought I had a ground floor for easy access to the beach but ended up on second floor with no elevator. I have cancer and can not climb stairs. Was very inconvenient since we wanted to go listen to music but ended up staying in our room because I was not willing to climb them again. If I wanted to watch Netflix we could have done it at home.

Location was great. Room was gross. No heat and no air conditioning. Stained carpet and wall covering . Booked a lake view room and they switched us to a view of the parking lot. Visitor’s Center said all 4 of their properties are the same.

The room was clean, staff were very nice, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was very good . Parking is adequate. We like that it’s right on the lakefront and in town and stores are walkable. Everyone we met/talked to were friendly and gave useful information as it’s our first time in this area, wish we could stay more than a night!

Inn is located perfectly for walking anywhere in Grand Marais. Patio on the lake is wonderful! Room was okay….. needed a deep cleaning. Bed was very lumpy. There was no air conditioning. Staff was very nice!
