Yes, 5 star rating! The host was super nice, very helpful! The beds were very clean and really comfortable. We did not want to get out of bed! Short walk to the beach, short walk to the boardwalk, we did not use the car at all! Park on the property or street parking until 6pm. 100% would recommend and stay again!

Never received info re the accommodations before arrival. Had to SHARE the bathroom with other guests.!! Had to locate continental breakfast items in the a.m. Resident manager was rude and obnoxious when we asked questions about accommodations. Very disappointed and would not recommend this residence to any one.

• Breakfast could have more variety • A mini fridge under the TV would be great • It’s not the owners fault. However, the walls and room doors are not noise canceling. Very little sleep with folks walking up and down the stairs • My room was nice and comfy

It was very nice to have easy, free parking in this very busy area. Only 2 blocks to the beach & boardwalk. Very good location to get around Virginia Beach mertro area. Continental breakfast is good with fresh fruit and bagels but not expansive. Plenty of self serve tea & coffee options. Really liked our 2nd floor room with a large private bathroom. The outside porches with the rockers are outstanding.

A very nice historical building. Newer owner bringing it back. Beds comfortable, location to beach and down town great, however balance that with traffic activity /noise being on a corner lot. Having earlier serving to continental breakfast is an opportunity.

We had stayed here under the prior owners. I was disappointed to no longer have a gourmet breakfast, but Chris more than made up for this. He helped me navigate the push-button locks and got me a key fob for our room (just in case). He advised a few breakfast spots (both excellent) and provided us with a clean, comfortable room. We'll definitely stay with him again.

I was very disappointed with my stay at Barclay Cottage, especially because this was supposed to be a special trip for my wife’s birthday. The biggest issue was how my service dog was handled. He is a trained service animal, not a pet, yet the person managing the property seemed uncomfortable with him from the beginning and later tried to charge us an additional $50. This resulted in a long and unnecessary exchange of messages during our stay, which made the experience stressful instead of relaxing. I was also surprised by the property itself. Based on the photos and description online, I expected something more like a small hotel or traditional B&B, but in reality it felt more like staying in a private house, and I don’t think the photos accurately represented the experience. The breakfast was also very disappointing. For the price, I honestly would have preferred to stay in another established hotel in Virginia Beach. Unfortunately, I would not stay here again.
