Check in agent tried to get us 2 adjoining rooms. After getting us 2 courtyard view rooms ( actually it was a view of a cement wall ) She realized one of the rooms was OUT OF ORDER !! So instead , I took a handicap room which was next door. That would have been ok had we had a hallway to walk through. However, our rooms had no hallway. We entered our rooms from outside !! As for the OUT OF ORDER ROOM…. My daughter and her husband heard loud voices from that room all night !!!! We will look at other options for our next stay in Grand Haven. It I wanted an outdoor entrance, I would have stayed at MOTEL 6

A comfortable place to sleep.

The room was very clean and comfortable. I especially appreciated that the in-room heating unit was quiet and efficient. The room as a whole was peaceful. Although the hotel is on a very busy street, I didn't hear the traffic noise at all.

I was expecting a hotel, not a motel room. I was happy with the room, it was sufficient for what i needed. Not the most comfortable bed. The shower curtain was dirty, so they obviously do not change those out between people staying there. Had to contact front desk for hand soap for the sink, went to pick it up. The pool was nice. Clean area and actually had a warm pool. I do not use the hot tub, but it was quite busy when i was in the pool. The location was good.

This place is old and dirty. I made sure my bare feet never touched the floor. The inside of the door was grimy. This should have been noticeable to the cleaning staff, which makes me wonder what else had not been cleaned. There was a considerable amount of dog hair on the table between the beds.

Bad service

The best thing I have to say about this hotel is although it seems old and outdated it was clean. We were put in a side building unattached from the hotel so use of the pool and hot tub were inconvenient. The biggest issue I had was with the service. I checked in request connected rooms. I was told there are no connecting rooms but he would put us next to each other. I checked in about 5:15 (check in starts at 4). We went to dinner and came back to realize our rooms were 509 and 610 but on the opposite side of the building of each other. When I inquired and asked for a room change or solution no apology was given. I was told I should have checked in earlier and said that we have kids. Which I had been told our rooms were next to each other and he had asked if we had kids I said yes. He proceeded to tell me no he knows his words he didn’t say that. A simple apology and we are booked up at the very least would have been nice. And if he said I requested no such things why would we have rooms 609-610 in numerical order? Obviously he made a mistake not knowing 610 is on the other side of the building. Very poor customer service and not only to myself but I witnessed it of other guests. This may be an employee issue but also the inconvenience of being in a separate building makes my choice to never stay here again. There should be apologies or resolutions to valid guest complaints.

The hotel was very clean. nice staff. The “annex” seemed to be a renovated old motel with doors on the outside. Our room was very clean but the walls are thin and I could hear the guy next door pee. AC was a bit noisy when it kicked on. Overall I felt safe. Breakfast was the standard fare.

The room carpet needed a better vacuuming. Tile floor in bathroom needed the grout to be cleaned. Bed pillows and mattress were good.

We had a medical issue (complete reverse shoulder replacement) that required I keep ice stocked for my husband throughout the night. I had no idea that the rate we booked was for a room with an outside entrance, which would require that I walk outside, by myself throughout the night, to an adjacent building to get ice. I expressed my concern over this, and was told "really.. .. this is Grand Haven". There were exactly 8 cars parked in the lots in front of the 3 buildings. Employee refused to "upgrade" us to a room where I'd have interior access to an ice machine, unless I paid $20 additional. Her comment "I can't just give away money - my manager would never allow this." Meanwhile, I discovered the next morning when I checked out that she WAS the mgr. I had not prepayed through a travel site - so she could have very easily made the room change for us. She most definitely had the authority. Other "accouterments": Wall outlet for lamp and coffee maker, at the desk, had no power, and the refrigerator froze the fruit I had brought along for my husband. We live 3 hours away, which is why we needed to come in the night before for my husband's appointment, and will also have 2 or 3 more trips to Grand Haven. We definitely won't be staying here. One positive - Megan, who was at the desk the next AM, was exceptionally nice and apologized for the treatment we had received. She also knew that the mgr had cost the property 2 or 3 additional revenue nights.
