Great hospitality, would recommend this stay to anyone traveling to Montreal area. Nice place to stay outside of the city, convenient location with many dining options within walking distance.

The property was most unique in that it was built in the 1850s. It is in terrific condition and has all sorts of fascinating features. I would definitely recommend this property and will use it again.

LOVED my stay here. I’d choose this place over any fancy hotel any day. Louise (spelling?) was so nice and accommodating. She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast was delicious. Again, Louise made sure there were options for my 2 year old. Thank you so much for such a wonderful stay. We look forward to visiting again in the future!

8/10 Very good

This is a really charming place with a very kind and nice host. The place is steps away to nice restaurants, walking and cycling area. Some downsides of an old house are that rooms are small (at least mine was), with tiny fridge and tiny table, no ventilation in the room or in the shared bathroom (so it can only be controlled by opening/closing windows), water drainage in the sink and the bathroom could be improved as well.

What a little gem. We felt so welcomed by Louise and Frédéric, and Sweppy, their dog too! We wanted a quiet, peaceful home from home place and this delivered all of that. We stayed for 2 nights in the beautiful ground floor room La Poesie with a view of the garden through the bathroom window. Plenty of hot water, a combined bath and shower, good reception for WiFi and an extremely comfortable bed. Our breakfasts were truly delicious. Thank you Louise, we will never forget you and your wonderful hospitality.

Louise, our host, was lovely! She was so attentive with our needs and the breakfasts were delicious! Our room was clean, had everything we needed and the bed was comfortable. The house is very charming and decorated by Louise with love and care. We already miss you and Sweppy! When we return to Montreal we will definitely book again! Thank you so much for making our trip so memorable!

Si vous voyagez seul.e et que vous cherchez un endroit tranquille, accueillant et surtout, sécuritaire, c'est l'endroit ! J'y reviendrai et j'amènerai mon petit compagnon à 4 pattes les prochaines fois.

10/10 Exceptional

Charming old stone storybook house, sweet and friendly proprietors. It has the feel of a youth hostel, with a little outside garden, piano, shared bath and kitchen access. You get to old town via a walk and metro ride, and it's just fine if you are not in a rush. The vieux neigborhood surrounding the 'refuge' is interesting and there's a walking path nearby where you can see all the people who live here walking their dogs and so on....delightful!

Design of the room, arts, tranquility, and home-like atmosphere of the room. It was a pleasure to stay there.

I booked a 3 night stay at Le Refuge du Poete in Longueuil, Quebec for a stay July 20-23. It is listed on Expedia and on Hotels.com as a B&B. IT DOES NOT SERVE BREAKFAST! I specifically booked it to have the breakfast included before heading into Montreal for business. I was very disappointed. It was too late once I had slept the first night to change my reservation. The description must be changed as it is misleading.

Spent only 1 night, in the room w ensuite bathroom. room was cosy and charming, as is the house...it's a small older house with all sorts of interesting antiques and features. We were greeted very pleasantly by Louise and I also enjoyed chatting w her and seeing her beaming smile the next morning. However, probably because I was concerned about travelling again after several years and what might happen on the remainder of our trip, I slept badly; the bed and the pillow were older, and my husband found them uncomfortable too. I have not slept in a bed like this in some years, including in my travels to Australia, Malaysia and Costa Rica in 2019...time to replace the mattress. My neck ache lasted for a couple of days. It was super to be in such an interesting neighbourhood; wish the Greater Toronto Area had something as charming as Longueuil. I can see how it would be so easy to get to and from Montreal from this Gite, via transit. Sadly, I noticed some hairs and dirt around one of the bed legs...in a very prominent spot/I wasn't kneeling down or hunting for dirt...it was very clear that the room had not been vacuumed in some days. So nice to be able to bring our dog (who does not shed) and not to be charged extra for him. Very few channels on the TV; I guess costs have to be cut due to losses during the pandemic. I am fairly sure I left something behind but I she did not call me...perhaps she didn't have my number?, as I booked via this site.

Our stay was wonderful! It’s a cozy warm feel, the moment you walk into the home. Our bedroom was very cute with a historic feel from the art on the wall to the furniture on the floor. It has a very private and peaceful backyard with plenty of shade. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

Beautiful and charming bed and breakfast, although breakfast is not included. Loved the city of Montreal and is walking distance from restaurants. Staff was very friendly and nice! Would love to visit again
Keyla, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

While visiting Montreal, we came across this B&B. We have stayed at hotels and airBnBs, but neither of them compare to an actual Bed & Breakfast. I wasnt sure what to expect but decided to try it out. I am glad we did, as this was a highlight of our first trip to Montreal. We were checked in my the son of Louise, and their puppy croquette, and who toured the house with us. We got to meet Louise a little bit later. They both spoke French and English. There is also an option of breakfast for a minimal fee, which is a very good deal. On the first day, Louise made us delicious crepes in the shape of a butterfly, and in a delicious fruit cause. This came with coffee, and we also had a toast of sparkling apple on the first day. On the second day, we had a yogurt with fruit, and these nice breakfast sandwiches. I don't consume cheese, and most milk products, so Louise did cater to my needs. This is an older house and filled with character, so it is one to be appreciated. It is beautiful on the inside and outside. That being said, this house also had steep and narrow stairs, so if youve got to be careful when going up and down, especially if you are older. This place is dog friendly. The location is perfect and a 3 minute walk to the bus stop which takes you to the Metro. There is a lot of available parking. I would highly recommend staying here if you want to experience a stellar bed & Breakfast and/or stay in a nice little town with easy access to Montreal.
