Historically beautiful and convenient

The hotel is in a super convenient location: restaurants, gift stores, and entertainment are all within walking distance. The employees were very professional and nice. They were all smiling which automatically sets a friendly tone. The rooms are decorated nicely. The room was odor free. I felt safe and the parking is free. I only had two things that weren’t quite 5-star in my opinion; the hot water came on the first night but the next morning, I stood at the foot of the shower for 4 minutes and it never got hot. It was barely lukewarm and I couldn’t take a shower. Luckily we were checking out that day so I knew I could take a shower once I got home. I’m assuming the plumbing is old since it’s a beautiful historic building. The only other thing I would change would be the bed. It was a spring mattress and it squeaked and was a little uncomfortable but that’s just me. You may like spring mattresses. I personally like a soft plush memory foam so that one is just personal preference and not necessarily a bad thing. The free breakfast was just fine: waffles, bagels, oatmeal, fruit, milk, orange juice and microwaveable sausage croissants. Plenty to eat.

The General Francis Marion is a wonderful old hotel restored to its former glory. Right in the middle of downtown Marion, within walking distance of several restaurants and shops.

Restaurant and bar were great-especially Amy! Also Indie at the front desk! The tub shower needs some appliques to prevent slipping and the mattresses need to be upgraded-especially for folks my age-68! We will return-Thks for being available in a great location to the Lincoln👍

The hotel is beautiful and full of history. Very clean, nice breakfast, and the staff we encountered were very nice. Only issue that was a little cumbersome was getting your luggage from the main entrance up to the lobby level where the elevator is. Other than that it is a gem!

Convenient to the Lincoln Theater. We were able to park and across the theater and food without moving our car. Room was clean and beautiful. Loved the historic feel with all the modern conveniences. Perfect little overnight getaway.
