Our Friday night stay was great. Oakham is a lovely village to visit and the Admiral Hornblower was welcoming. As expected in an older building there was stair access with low ceilings and creaky floorboards, but this all added to the charm. If you're a light sleeper, I'd suggest earplugs, given you're above a pub and also street noise. Breakfast was relaxed and a great choice and the service was excellent. We ate dinner locally but the restaurant looked inviting and beer garden shined on a sunny afternoon. There was no parking left onsite when we arrived, so parked on street and moved to carpark at 9am in the morning.
Saturday morning strolls, markets and great coffee from independent Caffè Aroma, just across the road.
It was only hour's drive, so would love to return.
