8/10 Good

I was warmly met when I went into the main pub to check in. The accommodation was in a separate building at the back. I had a lovely room upstairs with a small balcony which was a nice addition for such a lovely evening. The area around the pub was conducive both for a long walk as well as dining options. The room was clean with good decor and good spec fittings. This was for all areas except the shower/bath combo which had a clunky shower curtain which restricted movement. This was instantly forgiven, however, when I discovered the shower head had 3 settings, one of which was comparable to a shiatsu massage which was sorely needed. I had a decent night's sleep although a fan in the room would have been a nice touch. Breakfast seemed to have been sourced locally and was cooked very well. All in all I very much enjoyed the stay and would look to book myself in there again when I am next in the area.

An absolutely memorable holiday! ❤️❤️

The White Hart is wonderful; all the staff (too many to name), were so accommodating and kindhearted. I was welcomed and treated like family versus „just another guest.“ What an amazing experience!

Delightful Country Pub

Delightful thatched country pub with modern rooms to the rear. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was very good and a varied menu provided a good choice of faire. Room was a good size and comfortable.

Very dog-friendly and welcoming

We had a wonderful stay overnight here with our dog. The pub is very dog-friendly and we were able to eat in the restaurant with our dog. The room was spacious and clean with a nice bathroom, and the food was very good. The owner was very responsive to questions before we arrived and very helpful. Highly recommended!

Lovely stay! Definitely recommend!

If you’re looking for a cosy English coaching inn this is it. Fantastic stay. Room 7 on top floor was lovely. Amazingly comfortable bed. Parking right outside our room. Ate in the pub that evening, had a lovely meal & great service. Breakfast was best we’ve had all week, travelling with business. All made to order & served to us. Very friendly staff. Would definitely recommend & stay again. Inn is on Main Street in a small village and is very quaint.

6/10 Okay

Ive stayed at a number od Butcombe pubs and they are all excellent, but unfortunately i couldnt say the same about this one. The staff were all trying their best but didnt seem to have much training or leadership. The food i had was overcooked and over priced, including the breakfast. Not sure i would stay here again.

Check if they do food before you book.......!

This is a great little place to stay on your travels, but please call them to check if they do food before you book. Unfortunately, I checked in, asked to book a table and was told they don't do food on certain nights of the week. It would have been nice if they had let me know. They recommended the pub across the road for food, but i didn't fancy walking around a place i didn't know on my own. The rooms are great though. Definitely worth a look.

White Hart overnight stay

This was a bank holiday one night stay. We stayed in Room 2 (ground floor) which was nicely decorated and clean. There were bifold doors instead of a window which would have been great had there been a nice view instead of the concrete block wall which was higher than the room and only 2 feet away. We had to request a remote control for the TV and milk for a cup of coffee as these were not already in the room. I had a poor night's sleep as the bed was, in my opinion, extremely hard. Our evening meal was okay at best. We went for breakfast at 8.30 but there were no staff to be found. Eventually somebody turned up and took our order. Again the food was just okay. Unfortunately we will not be staying here again.

4/10 Poor

Poor poor poor

The room was of average quality. Some extra cleaning is required as the room smelt if wet dog the whole time and the shower was full of the previous guests hair. The most disappointing was the breakfast. I asked for the eggs Benedict which is poached eggs in a muffin with ham spinach and a sauce. The first issue was that they had no muffins, do did I want this on sourdough, which I agreed on. However when it, arrived there was no ham, so I duly asked the lady where it was. She took it back from me and said she would speak to the “chef”. She was new so was still trying to find her way around. When it came back the “chef” had just plonked some ham on the edges and microwaves it. It, was appealing, the eggs, were hard and the sourdough had not even been toasted so was soggy. I asked the waitress to o take it back as it was inedible. Then came the tirade of abuse from the kitchen, I heard it all. The chef came out 10 minutes, later to advise the waitress that she needed to be aware he couldn't do a lot that was on the menu. He then proceeded to ask her to open the bar and get him a pint of “gluten free” Butcombe and a soda. Which he duly opened and walked back to the kitchen with. This was, 10am in the morning! We will not be staying here again and I suggest that the owners relook at the kitchen staff. I can't fault the waitress she, was doing her best under the circumstances and she did not deserve the bullying from the so called “chef” that she was subjected to.
