Quiet lakeside property with lake views
This quiet lakeside property offers beautiful views of Lake Toya but is away from the large tourist hotels with their crowds of tourists.

The hotel’s construction is old, still using key instead of key cards, location is inconvenient compared to the other hotels in the town center, but hotel’s room has a beautiful view to the lake Toya.

This seasoned hotel turned out very satisfying to me. Though at one end of the beach park, it boasts a great view, with access to spacious beach front. Just as the picture of its exterior onsen spa shows, you can see the mountain at the far end of the lake. Also the check-in time is not as restrictive as some online review complained (before 6pm) so more flexible for a busy travel schedule. The staff is courteous and responsive to guests' need when they observe it. The only challenge for guests is, lack of Japanese language skills may restrict their communication with the staff. But this creates a real motivation for repeating guests to pick up some common tourist Japanese. And another possible annoyance is the residue smoke smell, if you are really sensitive which I am luckily not. So in short, I would love to stay in this hotel in my next visit to Lake Toya.

Loved traditional styled Japanese hotel. Have read bad reviews saying staff don’t speak English and are not friendly, but that is not fair. They might not speak English (but are they obligated to speak English? No!), but we found them very polite and sweet. Before you complained, check your manners.
The price included breakfast and dinner. The dinner was traditional and it was so much! Breakfast was a buffet style. Delicious! We heard that they grow some of vegetables they serve.

It’s hard to leave a negative review as the staff were all so friendly and helpful. “You get used to the smell” was our motto as you do slowly go nose blind to the overwhelming smell of stale old cigarettes. (You are still allowed to smoke in your room here) We may also all have splinal damage from sleeping on the floor in the “Japanese style beds” This whole town has a bit of a post apocalyptic feel when we visited in the winter as it’s quite run down. If you’re on a budget though it’s a good option if you have a car and don’t want to pay the crazy lodging prices at the nearby resorts.
Le petit dejeuner japonais a été le meilleur de notre séjour au Japon. La vue sur le lac est superbe et les onsen très agréables. Les Yukatas prêtés sont confortables.
