10/10 Exceptional

friendly, nice environment, not pretentiuous
jürgen, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

We stayed in the tiny house and I found it to be not so clean. There was splash back on the toilet from someone vomiting...that was disgusting. The dining room had a dog wandering around, not okay with people dining. I found the food very expensive with limited amount and not very well cooked. Two green beans and four shreds of carrot does not warrant vegetables...four small cubes of potato and two small chicken thighs that were undercooked. Not happy with the food at all. I would not recommend this property.

This resort has yurts and domes as well as rooms in the lodge. The yurts and domes do not have their own baths. The lodge rooms where we were did. The room had a double bed and a single. The double was quite comfortable, the single not so much. Our room was on the bottom floor. There was a restaurant attached and the option to have a package with breakfast and dinner. Though we didn't have the package we did eat a breakfast and a couple of dinners. The food was excellent. They have music on Thursday and Saturday nights. We were there on Thursday. There was a Cape Britton traditional music group that was wonderful. There is a trail to a bay of the ocean. It is really quite nice. A combination of camping and lodge resort. It was one of the few places we stayed that had air conditioning and as it worked out was also the only time it was needed

Was allowed to check in a little eerly because housekeeping was al finished. That was. Bonus with 3 kids. Slept them ate delicious bbq chicken meal. Later James made us burgers that could stand up above anybody. Rebecca was awesome enough to give us some important info regarding the areaenities and a big smile. Thanks James and Rebecca !!!!! .

2/10 Poor

Poor Quality Strange Policies

The bed and pillows provided in the room were of notably low quality, feeling thin and not well-suited for repeated use in a lodging environment. The right side of the mattress was weak and did not support the sleeper. The layout of the room also presented challenges, particularly with the left side of the bed positioned under a sloped ceiling, which led to multiple instances of bumping our heads when getting up. Additionally, the waste disposal policy was inconvenient. Arriving at the room I was reminded of the $25 for not sorting garbage, which could have been easily avoided if as expected appropriate sorting receptacles were provided in the room from the start. This would have made the process much smoother and more straightforward. Overall, the accommodation fell short of expectations, especially considering the price point.

Quand même une belle ambiance et l'éco -responsabité plus poussée.

We had to take out our own garbage or be charged $25 to have housekeeping take it. This is just ridiculous!

Needs refurbishment and renovation

The place was good but the place was old and getting to our unit required us to gp through narrow stairs and small doors. Towels still have smell of sun screen. Washroom needs fixing as the toilet is shaky and leaking septic gas.

8/10 Very good

The food at Cabot Shores was wonderful! The staff are lovely and the location perfect as a jumping off spot for many things to do on Cape Breton. The room was rustic but quiet and convenient

Great service, even better dinner!
Carla, 1-night trip

4/10 Fair

The dinner meals were amazing. I had halibut one night and salmon the next. It was served with fresh vegetables from the garden. I had soup and mussels as appetizers and both were fabulous. The breakfast was very underwhelming, cold frittata and French toast with Aunt Jemima syrup ,no fresh fruit as promised. Our server Pierre was polite, efficient and kind. My room,6a ,had a moldy smell. The a/c filters were caked with dust ( I cleaned them out myself) and the patio door to the outdoor did not lock. I reported it to the front desk, nothing was done so I had to secure the door myself.

Unfortunately, our room was above the lobby/dining area. We woke up from the movement of people and chairs/tables.
Arlene, 2-night trip

4/10 Fair

The staff was really nice and helpful but the food was def not as great as they claim nor are the rooms (we stayed in) old musty The bed springs were digging into our backs and we had some bug bites on us after the night (don’t think it was bed bugs) but the area was beautiful and once again the staff was incredibly nice and accommodating

Wilderness Beauty

Beautiful place to stay if you love the outdoors and simple comforts. The bed was pretty tough which was a shame as we really loved it here by the beach. All very clean and a great team. The location is fantastic.
Debbie, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

It has a back to nature vibe with several unique abodes. The bistro wasn’t open for dinner and there are no eating establishments for quite a distance, so make sure you make plans ahead of time to eat before arriving or pick something up. For the price we would have liked a tv and a coffeemaker in the room.

Camp here, do not stay in the lodge

I stayed at the lodge and was not very happy with my stay. The room was very overpriced for what it was and had the feel of staying at a hostel. I felt somewhat misinformed booking this stay, as the room pictures indicated on the website didn’t look like the kind of room my fiancé and I stayed in. This wilderness resort is definitely much more suited to a camping experience, and I would not recommend staying in the lodge in a hotel room. It felt like sleeping over a friend’s house rather than staying in an over $100 room with very minimal room amenities.
Alexandra, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

The property has a very beautiful location. Very rustic and the yurts were very cute. Disappointed in the food service, however. I thought the prices were too high for the quality of the food and the service provided. I also thought it was pushy to insist upon a reservation for the "bistro". I appreciate that they wouldn't want to make food for more than expected, but I feel that's part of what happens in the restaurant business: you have to place a bet, and sometimes you win, sometimes you lose...

The pillows smell bad and uncomfortable. The towels smell moldy. The chairs were broken. You would expect better amenities for the price of the chalet. Breakfast is expensive and the food is not good. Generally Overall the place is not well maintained. The Yurts look like a moldy yogurt pot.
