Everything was excellent. The staff was very friendly and polite, even though there was one request the staff refused to help. Yet, I understand. There was one thing really bothered me, however, was the smell of sewage in the bathroom. It was unbearable. So the last day of the trip it got really strong. Half day of our last day we couldn’t use it.

Whilst the hotel was overall very nice it was over priced generally. At nearly double the price of other 5 star hotels we stayed at on this trip. The staff were excellent and very attentive. I felt no Cafe or restaurant or bar was a big miss for a 5 star hotel I suspect the theme and design this was deliberate.

Extraordinary property and staff - such an authentic Japanese experience for those looking for something 5 stars and not a regular chain hotel.

The staff behave politely, but their actions are mysterious and suspicious; puts a damper on feeling genuinely welcome.

We stayed for a couple of nights at Hoshinoya Tokyo at the beginning of the year, and the hotel stay was a delightful highlight of our trip. The hotel’s delivery of traditional meets luxury was a unique experience, for example, how they greet and offer tea upon arrival. Communication was friendly and welcoming; they have an online activity booking system, which is very effective. A great highlight was the ‘morning Kenjutsu’ exercise, which we highly recommend! We would consider staying in Hoshinoya Tokyo again. Thank you for the great hospitality!

There was a real Japanese flavor to the hotel. The sake tasting every evening was good, as was the min-concert of Japanese music one night.

Loved the onsen at the top floor. Despite how expensive it is, the hotel/ryokan doesn't offer much complimentary service including late checkout. It was a nice experience but I would rather spend the money on other nearby hotels next time.

This was such a top-tier experience. The service was unbelievable. The sheer number of staff people who could not be more helpful. I was a first-time visitor to Japan from New York City, and they made all the right moves in terms of comfort and anticipation of our group’s needs. In fact, I hurt my foot pretty seriously on the first day of our stay, and three staff members helped me immediately - one with a special Japanese ice pack and two others with finding the best English speaking orthopedic doctor and even with ordering me a special walking boot from Amazon Japan when the doctor did not have my size. I’ve been in a lot of hotels in a lot of cities, and I would rank this in the top 3 I’ve ever experienced.
