We stayed in a dog friendly room for the second time with our westie, it perfectly suited our needs and it was well appointed and appropriate for our trip. The staff are amazing and can't do enough to help. We found them all friendly and approachable both to ourselves and Barney our dog. Meals and especially the breakfast are outstanding and we can recommend the travellers rest grill on a morning and either the fish and chips or steak and bacon suet pudding on the evening menu.

The hotel was in a great location within walking distance to Grasmere centre. Hotel was clean and the staff welcoming and knowledgeable about the local area. We enjoyed breakfast and evening meal at the hotel

Ideal location for walking. Pretty pub with great food and helpful staff. Large carpark and we were allowed to park early before checking in. Great beer garden with lovely views. Perfect stay, thank you!

Vi havde kun tid til en enkelt overnatning men vender gerne tilbage til denne hyggelige kro, som ligger ideelt ved vejen til Grasmere.Personalet er søde og hjælpsomme. Morgenmaden var god og værelse, seng og bad levede op til forventningerne. Udsigten er enestående og omgivelserne egner sig til traveture.

A beautiful country inn, we booked to break up a journey south and it was so much nicer than a generic motorway hotel. The food was delicious, both dinner and breakfast. The staff could not have been any nicer, everyone we came into contact with was super friendly. It’s a very old building, and quite higgldy piggldy (low beans, some steep stairs) but the rooms are lovely and the bathrooms obviously recently replaced. Our only negative at all would be that the shower is a lovely big cubicle but the opening to get into the shower is very narrow. It was an inconvenience not a problem. We would absolutely stay here again.
