PROS; beautiful property, pristine location. Blue Flag Beach says a lot. Plants and flowers are gorgeous. Suite 4243 is well-located with great view. Forty steps up to the suite, be aware! Food was very good. There is a wide variety on the buffet, including meats, cheeses, hot/cold dishes, salads, breads and desserts. The outdoor grilling options were a nice touch, as well as made-to-order omelets in the morning. The Italian restaurant, to which we were entitled one visit during our week-long stay, was 3.5/5. Nothing spectacular but a good change from the buffet. The outdoor sunbathing areas also offer a variety — beach, poolside, on a grass area, and two phone and kid-free sun decks. Plenty of towels everywhere. The Sea was a tad chilly end of May but refreshing. The infinity pool is amazing. Great views from all outdoor areas, pretty much.
CONS; service level in various areas is not in keeping with a five-star property. Desk staff while checking in and out was very good, and wait staff in the buffet area was fine. The bartenders were uniformly unfriendly. There is a major disconnect with housekeeping staff. Some days they would come, other days not. Some days they replaced towels, some days not. Some days the minibar was attended to, other days not. Guest relations did not communicate well w/ staff when we did contact them. Lack of training is evident. Desserts were mostly bland. MX restaurant very poor Smoking is so bad; designed non-smoking space outside would be 👍
