Excellent onsen hotel right at the end of the first day of the Kohechi Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail. I came for the onsen and mountain seclusion, but they had such good maps of the Kohechi at the front desk that I decided to walk back to Koyasan the day I checked out. It’s about 20km through the mountains from Nosegawa Onsen to Koyasan, walking on a mix of well-kept trails and paved roads; overall, a moderately difficult hike with very good signage.
I highly recommend Kohechi hikers to stay at this hotel.

The food was not good, so I understand the price was cheap now. Some equipments were broken. I couldn’t see them to try their customers return there.
It was a quiet and wonderful stay on the Japanese countryside. It's a bit out of the way, so make sure when planning your way there you follow the shuttle instructions or have another way of getting there via car or taxi. Staff were friendly and accommodating and helped to contribute to a memorable vacation

Very good customer service and cozy tatami room with view overlooking the river. Fell asleep to the sound of water flowing.
Excellent Ryokan that has been well maintained and cared for given its long history.
The old facility is evident and yet despite that, provided a cosy stay.
The host was extremely warm and welcoming and showed the hospitality as one would expect from a traditional Ryokan passed down from decades old.
The kaiseki meal at additional cost were delicious and well worth it.
Frankly not much around the area and as the host put it best: come, relax and enjoy what the moment has to offer without the hustle and bustle.
Fun fact: the hotel has the only elevator in the whole area.
