Room was clean, space and complimentary waters and popcorn were given during check in which was a nice touch. Area was nice but did have a few homeless people nearby which is expected in downtown but it did not affect my stay. Breakfast was as expected. The staff was exceptionally courteous and did everything they could to improve our stay. However, we had to wait almost an hour past our check in time before a clean room became available. Once we were in our room, it was clear that the housekeeping staff had been in a hurry as the bathroom had been cleaned but not well (debris from previous guests on floor, hair in bathtub). On top of that, the fan on the ac/heat unit was so noisy that we had to turn the entire unit off at the breaker. Maybe the hotel was slammed at the last minute and miscalculated the need for staff but overall, it was disappointing.

While the lobby was well kept, our room was lacking. The dishwasher was dirty on the outside, and I wiped down the shelves and counters myself. The shower wasn’t overly clean, and their bottles of hand soap and body wash was empty. You could tell it had been been for a while, as the body wash was facing the sink outside instead of the shower. The garage disposal wasn’t working and started smelling as the food from previous visits started coming up. Maintenance did respond quickly, however. When o went to go make a coffee, the cream was bad. The breakfast was sub par. However, Martin was very friendly and made sure everything was tidy and stocked. After having spent 1 night previously at the Home 2 Suites in Columbia, IRMO, the difference was apparent. They were spotless, with a bigger and better variety of breakfast.
