We arrived at the hotel before they received the reservation notice from Expedia; therefore did not have our reservation but made room for us and gave us an upgrade with our own bathroom. This hotel is more of a museum than a hotel. The collection of old pictures on the wall, old wall paper, vintage furniture etc is a delight. And the owners are friendly and the coffee strong. What more could you ask for. And don’t miss the Cameron Museum 2 blocks away.

It was a historic place to stay and appreciated it's place in time. Very old fashioned with shared bathrooms and just one shower that is shared. It is not the Taj Mahal, but for a place to sleep and then hit the road the next day, it was just fine.

If you are looking for a modern facility, don't go here and turn around and give a bad review. If you enjoy a nostalgic stay in a historical building with it's old time feel, come here. The rooms and beds were comfortable. The decor was cute and appropriate for the old building. It was a fantastic stay in a friendly place with the unique traits of an old building. I will go back again the next time we head that way.

This is a historic hotel over 120 years old. The hotel is mostly original with some updates in the bathroom. Since it is older the room size was naturally smaller than today’s standard. I enjoyed the antiques and antique furniture in the rooms and it reminded me of times got by. I enjoyed my stay and appreciated the hotel for its historic value.

Hidden gem

I have been staying at the Kempton for several years now. As a single, older woman, I have always felt safe and comfortable. The hotel is so charming, decorated in old western motif. I was a little taken back this trip, when I found out the pet fee had been raised to $35, which is about half of what the room costs. I understand that some people can ruin it for others and this won’t stop me from staying there.

This hotel is exactly as described. It is a very old hotel with lovely quirks. If you are expecting a 5 star hotel, you will be disappointed. If you are looking for a unique experience with an open mind and love antiques, the hotel is wonderful. The bed was comfortable. The town really has nothing to do and the only food is across the street at the bar. The food was good and reasonably priced. The only complaint is that for a VERY small town, there is a lot of noise on main street and mufflers are optional. While the hotel has no control over this, we have opted for other options if we pass this way again.

I am rating this place 5 stars because it was exactly what we needed. Inexpensive, convenient, comfortable, friendly staff and owner. It is a historic property with plenty of old history to look at. It is not a high end luxury place by any means. If you are looking for that keep looking. Don’t book this place and expect to get luxury at this reasonable cost. You get what you pay for! I will definitely stay here again. Like I said exactly what I was looking for! Oh, and incredibly good food across the street. Just a great little town. Reminded me of where I grew up.
