A beautiful old home in a lovely neighborhood only 8 minutes from downtown. The host was friendly and the breakfast was amazing- fresh fruit from their own trees. Super clean.

We loved staying here! The beds are great, the property is stunning, and I wish I could have these breakfasts every morning. The breakfast they put together from their own fruit trees and homemade baked goods felt like we were spoiled every morning. We got to spend some time with Stewart and loved chatting and he had some incredible recommendations for the area that made our stay all the better. Given the opportunity we will absolutely be staying here again. It's the perfect comfortable and quiet getaway spot.
This is just one of the breakfasts we had - different baked goods but fruit was always the constant!

Overall a great experience. Host 5 stars, property 5 stars, very quiet: 5 stars, breakfast 5 stars. Room size, no air condition, sink in bedroom: 3 stars. We would book it again, but the room felt small, however we loved the great fresh local fruit selection every morning.

We had a wonderful stay at the Old Hawaiian B&B and highly recommend this place. Breakfast each morning was a real highlight, with fresh fruits and delicious homemade pastries. The property is set in a quiet, pleasant neighborhood and surrounded by a lush tropical garden, with an impressive cliffside view that makes the setting feel truly special. It is also very conveniently located, just a short drive from downtown Hilo, as well as swimming and snorkeling beaches and the beautiful bayfront gardens. Our host, Stewart, was very friendly and attentive to all our needs. He generously shared great tips on places to visit, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We would definitely consider coming back.

We were delighted to find this BandB in a lovely part of Hilo. The house is well maintained with a large yard bordering the river. The room was very clean and bright. The hostess was friendly and hospitable, served us a delicious breakfast with a variety of fruits and fresh baked pastries, and packed us a breakfast to go when we needed to leave early.

What a nice stay and unique experience. We stayed in this B&B for two nights. The host served us breakfast with home made fresh fruits which is absolutely tasty. We also chatted with other guest and felt pretty relax on the huge backyard full of fruit trees. This place is located in a convenient place near hilo downtown . Highly recommend !

We loved our stay at Old Hawaiian B and B! The room was cozy and clean, the peoperty is beautiful, and the hosts are extremely welcoming. Breakfast is also a highlight - fruit from the backyard, assorted home made breads, and a hard boiled egg and yogurt. Fantastic start to the day! We would definitely stay here again if we wind up around Hilo in the future!

Stuart served us fruit from his trees for breakfast. His spacious and well kept back yard overlooks the lovely river that feeds Rainbow Falls. Idyllic.

My husband and I stayed there for four nights and we had the most wonderful time there. Every morning was a different type of fresh cut fruit, mostly grown in the property and home bake goods. It was delicious! The room was small but comfortable and was exactly what we were looking for. The property and location was great too. It was a 10 minutes walk to rainbow falls and 5 minutes drive to downtown Hilo.

Thoughtful room decor. Very clean and functional. No TV so I caught up on my reading, that is a huge plus. The breakfast offerings of ample fruit and baked things were great. Wonderful and relaxing

The owner personally prepares breakfast every morning and serves it at 8:00 a.m. The meal includes coffee, tea, juice, a fruit plate with eight varieties of freshly picked tropical fruits from the backyard, boiled eggs, yogurt, bread, and muffins. The room is very clean. The location is very convenient. It's close to the Akaka Falls State Park, Rainbow Falls, Liliʻuokalani Gardens, the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden, and the farmers market in downtown Hilo I give it a 4 out of 5 for the following reasons: 1. No air conditioning unit 2. No bathroom ventilation fan 3. The bed is a queen rather than a king

First time at a bed and breakfast

This was our first time ever at a bed snd breakfast. I wasn't sure what to expect. I'd say Intimate would be a good word, and friendly. Laurie the owner welcomed us personally, and there were two other couples there. The morning communal breakfast gave us a taste of the local fruits and breads, all hand preparec. The room was comfortable and while there's no A/C, there was no need due to the local nighttime climate. It wasn't near the downtown district, but turned out to be a plus. If you visit Hilo, I highly recommend Old Hawaiian Bed and Breakfast! Thanks for great 2-day stay.

The room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a variety of fresh fruits picked from trees on the property, yogurt, and delicious baked goods baked fresh by the owner. Owners Stewart and Lori were excellent hosts -- very helpful and friendly, and they made the stay quite enjoyable. The room didn't have a/c but didn't need it. The B&B is in a very nice, quiet neighborhood just a few miles above Hilo. I highly recommend it!
