We had booked this small hotel mainly based on the description on their website for what we expected to be a peaceful, tranquil 2 nights in quiet surroundings. We would have given a 5 star review but sadly it didn’t quite live up to our expectations. The location is perfect, in the small village of Elmesthorpe however, we found the hotel itself to be fairly noisy and busy for much of the time during our stay as it is open to non-residents for private functions, restaurant dining and the outdoor pool, which our room overlooked.
We had booked a junior suite so was a decent sized ‘large double’ with twin beds and a sofa. Unfortunately the mattresses were extremely uncomfortable and ‘lumpy’ so had poor nights sleep. The room itself was very clean, although the decor is a little tired and in need of an update to match the public areas of the hotel.
What makes this hotel is definitely the staff and the quality of food served in the restaurant - both these are deserving of a 10/10 and a return visit. We found all the staff to be friendly, attentive and professional - a credit to the owners.
