The bed is so hard. The bathroom is not safe for kids, the bathroom don’t even have extra towel. You need to pay for extra toilet paper. Everything you have to payment even to clean the room and the room is so small. I’m recommending to my friends and family.

Property is well situated and close to bus stations in the city. The property gives out free toothbrushes, soaps, shampoo, etc which is much appreciated. Free breakfast was okay. For the price I've paid, the hotel is fair in value.
On the other hand, the interior of the property is not aesthetically pleasing. Furthermore, the property had no generator set and unfortunately, during my stay in the property, there was a whole-day blackout and the hotel could not provide electricity in the room while I was preparing for the day.

I Love the Universal!
I've stayed here twice now and also in 4 different hotels in Laoag prior and this place surpasses all the others for customer service and comfort within the same price bracket. I will definitely be staying here again in the near future.

Hotel without an elevator that is 5 storeys high
This hotel does not have an elevator and we had a room on the 4th floor. What a pain! There is no way to call the desk if we need something. No phone in the room. The breakfast they offered had run out for the choices we picked from the order manu.

Good place but needs some improvement
Area as near the from all the establishments, near the Capitol and the Plaza. Also, the place was cute, though room is small but cute. The building should have an elevator since it is a 5 storey structure. We were located at the 5th floor and it was quite hard and tiring to go up and down.

Excellent customer service in new & good location
Excellent service - the hotel staff were very courteous and helpful. Felt like a Queen during our 2-nights stay. Breakfast was excellent too. The only thing was the absence of elevator which is hard for elderly guests and Bad WiFi which couldn't really connect to the internet. Good I brought my own pocket WiFi during the trip. Otherwise, awesome hotel and would highly recommend it.

Amazing staff and very decent Boutique hotel
I frequently visit Laoag and I Universal Suites is the only hotel in the CBD that I will surely recommend to my family and friends. The most decent in the CBD. Staff is extremely nice as well as the lady owner which I had the chance to personally met. She is gracious and very hospitable. I spoke to the staff and asked about their boss, and they are very happy about how she treats them which made me like the hotel better.
Kudos to Universal Suites.

Room condition
It’s summer time so i guess this is the reason why the room we stayed is hot. Internet is down during that time.

Beautiful hotel; needs to change a few things
Pros:
1)The hotel and it's rooms are very beautifully decorated. Their walls are lined with inspirational quotes.
2)The hotel is on the main street and is walking distance to the town center, night food market, etc.
3) Staff helped us flag down a ride (i.e. tricycle) to go to our destinations.
4) Provided an airport transfer for a fee, which was convenient. Although, we paid for it the night before at the front desk, but when the van transfer dropped us off at the airport, the driver asked for the payment, more than what wet paid for. We had to tell the driver we paid in advance. Communication between the front desk staff and driver could be better.
Cons:
1) Rooms are small. We (5 adults) stayed in a room that had two double beds and a bunkbed. There wasn't much room to move about.
2) The drain in the bathroom didn't work very well, especially in the shower. There wasn't a barrier between the shower and the rest of the bathroom so when the shower wouldn't drain, it would flood the whole bathroom.
3) Breakfast and service was horrible. We sat ourselves and no one came out until they served our food (we ordered the night before). We got 2 complimentary breakfasts with our stay and bought 3 more. The three bought were ok, but the two complimentary breakfasts only had one tiny piece of longanisa and the rice wasn't fully cooked. The rice was wet and looked more like porridge. There were no water or any kind of drinks layed out at the table that had the containers for them.
I stayed for 3 weeks which I think was probably longer than the average guest for this hotel. The rooms are not very large but adequate for sleeping and look to be very new. They try very hard to keep you happy and the staff are fantastic. They surprised us with a cake and card to congratulate us on getting married. The entire staff came to our door to congratulate us. It was a fantastic gesture and we loved them for it!!
