Charming vintage roadside motel!

Charming vintage roadside motel! Clean and comfortable with original features like gingham cloth wallpaper and cool pine chairs. This is not a greige corporate chain place! Staff were all really nice, shower was hot with good water pressure. The restaurant had good food and friendly service. A pleasant stop in Williamstown!

Great time

Loved the spacious room, King bed was very comfortable and enjoyed the relaxing jetted tub. The restaurant has excellent food and service. Enjoyed sitting outside near the creek and at the fire pit in the evening.

Lovely inn and great restaurant!

The room was pleasant and the grounds were nice. Nothing in disrepair. The ‘6 Restaurant was wonderful-our waitress was fabulous, decor was lovely and the prices were quite reasonable. A definite “thumbs up” and sure to return.

Near hiking for Mt. Greylock and the Appalachian Trail. Nice walking area close by at Lamb's Hill. Clean Older mattress, was OK, but could feel springs a little. If you like a tub, it is tiny. The shower is OK

Everything was clean and worked well. After a not-so-good visit last year this was a total reversal in all areas of quality. We also ate at the restaurant which was very good.

It’s unique historical property. The front desk allowed us to check in three hours early due to it’s a snowy day. We had a lovely thanksgiving dinner in the restaurant belongs to the hotel.

I checked in after hours. Key with instructions left at the front, easy to find. Room was clean and cold from the AC (thank you!).! Room smelled a bit like a motel, but nothing crazy. Bed was firm, but I slept ok.!!

Clean historic Inn

Historic Inn that is clean. If you are looking for something modern this is not for you. If you love a historic inn with all the old charm and character then this is your place. Staff was friendly and the bed comfortable. WiFi password provided upon picking up the room key. Internet worked well. Room was spacious for a family of 4.

We arrived after 7 pm and it turned out had reserved the room for Wednesday night instead of Monday night. A person associated with the restaurant which was closed on Monday, helped us. He called in to the staff and checked us into a room. Everything went so smoothly and it could have been last minute looking for a different motel.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The lodging was quite charming and in a beautiful setting. Great place to stay if hiking or skiing in the area or just visiting Williamstown and North Adams. The room was comfortable and quiet. The TV audio didn't work properly and there were a couple of lightbulbs out, but we didn't trouble the staff who I am sure would have been immediately helpful. We would definitely stay here again!

Barely adequate

Reserved two weeks ahead, busy season, so not much else to choose from in this area under $200. Room was clean, adequate: bed comfortable, bathroom clean. AC worked well and extremely noisy. Turned it off to sleep. Bedside lamp had no switch, had to bring it to office to get replaced. Toilet occasionally kept running. No hot water tea/coffee amenities. Pondside units in front of depressing, dilapidated pond (or pool?).

The sound proofing is terrible. The handle fell off of the storm door. The shower head is not angled correctly and water spewed out of the shower when we turned it on. The room was clean and otherwise fine.

Good location , near williamstown but very overpriced for what you get. Bed was comfortable. but… My room was missing lightbulbs in several of the lamps. My room had outlets that didn’t work Several rooms had no water so they had emergency maintenance going on for long hours making a lot of noise Was severely overpriced due to fall foliage

It was very nice, we had a large room, porch with chairs to set out side, it was more than we expected. Only knock i can give them is, they said there was wifi they gave us a password but the signal was so weak that it only connected for a couple of minutes then it was gone. Went to the office, they said thy would look into it. It never worked during our stay. I would definitely stay again, but if you cant live with out wifi ,this might not be your spot.

As a senior I felt unsafe getting into the shower there is a deep tub and it was a bit slippery there are no grab bars. Also the water in the tub continued to drip after trying to turn it off. The toilet is very low and the floor slanted after having my knees replaced it was a challenge sitting and getting back up. The bed was firm and we had a good night sleep, area is quiet.

The room was clean and the ac worked well. There was a constant noise off and on all night that woke us often, perhaps an ac unit outside. Buckling ceiling tiles in bathroom, one lamp did not work. Some of the signs said "spa". There was nothing spa-like about this motel. No "on" button on the tv remote. TV was not local channels. No shade on one window.

4/10 Fair

Had booked a brookside room but when checked in I was put in a beautiful barnside room with fireplace, big bathroom etc come to find out that all the brookside rooms were closed due to code violations! our room was beautiful (barn side) but we had no control of the heat which was only thru a wall fireplace and space heater - dangerous! Outlets had extension cords and lights near a canopy bed that screamed fire hazard, water was iffy and pressure came on and off. Toilet didn’t always flush. Jacuzzi tub didn’t work. No one in office for entire stay other than check in so we had 2 towels and 1 roll of toilet paper for 2 nights /3 days! I have stayed here before and found the property cute and charming and dog friendly but I will be looking for a new place to stay when visiting the area going forward.

4/10 Fair

I have stayed here before and it was great. This time I booked a room on the brookside and was put on the pond side. I did not have the service in the office to check that I booked that. When I got to the room I checked my booking and I was correct- I did book the brookside. I was going to let that go until I sat on the bed. It was hard as a rock. I called the front office and told the woman working at the front desk. I informed her that I have serious medical issues and the bed would be an issue. I also informed her that I was placed in the wrong room. I was very kind. I don't like to complain. I have very non confrontational. She told me she would "inform the staff about my complaint." I then had to call 4 times and she informed me "the staff was busy and they would get to me." Well they never did. I unfortunately will not be staying here anymore. Also the room smelled so strong of air freshener covering up mildew that every time I left for a while and came back I would have to open all of the windows to air it out because it made me feel sick. Oh and the heat didn't work. Never again.

Great restaurant

The 1896 House was a nice place, however, while it’s rooms were “period decorated”, it could use some updates. It was clean and comfortable. We loved that we were able to walk over to the restaurant, which was FANTASTIC! The staff were very nice, helpful and friendly. Our over all stay was great.

The price is good. It's a classic motel from the '50's, but gets the job done.
