Clearly the Smith & Western is a themed hotel and restaurant and they really commit, with saddle stools, staff in cowboy hats, caribou light fixtures and antler tissue boxes. Each room is named after and Indian tribe, ours, Arapaho was spacious and clean. With a kettle, coffee machine and mini bar, the amenities were good. The TV had apps for all the catch-up channels plus Prime, Apple, Disney etc. The carpet was a little tired and stained on the stairs but otherwise it was well maintained. The booking said it included continental breakfast but in fact it was a choice of tasty cooked options along with endless juice, tea and coffee. If you’re looking for a lighter or healthier option, this isn’t for you as there’s no pastries, cereal or fruit. The car park was half empty when we arrived around 2:20 and has direct access to Sainsbury’s next door. There is a night entrance if you’re coming back late or don’t want to go through the restaurant. The pantiles is no more than 10min walk and the Forum is just 5min. Not a cheap option but very pleasant and a great location for our weekend plans.

What a fantastic hotel! I had an unforgettable stay here in one of their amazingly decorated, very comfortable 'ranch' rooms. The food was great, staff very friendly and accommodating and easy parking on-site too. This hotel is an amazing experience for any wannabe cowboys or cowgirls!

A quirky place to and it was so much than I expected. The room was rather on the small side but for a one night stay this was a problem. The bed was comfortable and the shower was fantastic. The decoration was based on the wild west and it was done very well. The evening meal was good with very attentive service. The range of food was reasonable and enough to cover most peoples palate. The included breakfast and the breakfast burrito was excellent. Very good value accommodation and food. I'd definitely stay there again.

Only issue I had was the lack of disabled access. I am mobilty impaired and whilst I understood that there was no disabled access to the rooms there were no ramps available for use at steps. Portable ramps would be useful. However the staff were extremely helpful

Amazing themed rooms, very clean m with crisp white cotton sheets, and very comfy bed and pillows. Powerful shower and fluffy towels. Breakfast choice was amazing, cooked to order , very hot and tasty. Staff could not have been more helpful, requested more tea and milk sachets, bought to our room with 5 mins and asked if we would prefer fresh milk! Loved it here, the food is exceptional!.. The room was very clean and tidy and all staff go above and beyond to be welcoming.. The one and only downside is the music was really loud in the bar, unfortunately it was the night we stayed that there was also a big party downstairs partying until 11pm!.. But don't let this out you off as it really is a very unique place to stay

It’s very quirky and the theme is continuous. The rooms and bathroom are very comfortable and clean. Parking is easy & free for hotel guests. Every single member of staff we spoke to, whether bar, waiting staff, Manager and the cleaning ladies were absolutely lovely and very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely stay again. The included breakfast is delicious too!
