Absolutely quaint comfortable fully equipped cabin. Location perfect for experiencing “old Florida “ and the two nearby State Parks. People were great and the restaurant was excellent as well. Great experience.

8/10 Very good

It was a very good stay. Comfortable bed, quiet room, and it’s convenient to have the restaurant next door. My only complaints are that the tile floor in the room was swept, but needs mopping and the shower head needs replacing. The sprayer doesn’t spray out of the middle, just the sides.

6/10 Good

I loved the cabin and the area near the creek - quite peaceful and lovely, especially at night with all of the twinkle lights. The staff were amazingly lovely. There was an odd metal dental pick stuck in the chair, a dead roach on the floor in the middle of the room, there isn't much water pressure in the shower and the wifi nor cell service worked at all, and you can hear every single thing your neighbor does in their cabin. The restaurant was wonderful - live music, cool gift shop, but they were out of grits and potatoes. The salmon was excellent and the hush puppies were the best I've ever had.

Short sweet respite

We had a lovely stay. We arrived, got settled, and had drinks, appetizers, and an excellent dinner in the restaurant while perusing books everywhere. Bed was comfortable, location was quiet away from the hustle bustle. Had to be at an event in Gville at noon, and the timing worked out perfectly. It has the old Florida charm at its finest; I can't wait to return!

Love it!

This is a charming slice of Old Florida in a beautiful location. Our cabin was super sweet, furnished comfortably and tastefully with everything we needed for our stay. Bed was comfy. Our hosts Robert and Cindy were absolutely wonderful, as were all of the staff. I hope to return next year.

There is a canal off of Cross Creek that allowed us to dock our boat and leave from there to go fish in Orange lake.

The Yearling will always have a very special place in my heart. It is old Florida charm at its finest. The cabins are not 5-star accommodations, but rather exactly what you would expect to find located on Cross Creek between Lake Orange and Lake Lochloosa. They are clean, comfortable and offer an excellent view of the creek. The neighborhood peacocks call to each other while birds and other wildlife occasionally travel by. My husband and I have stayed three times so far and would love to go back more often.

Husband and I come here to get away from the busy rat race,i work from home and the yearling is about a 20 minute drive. We have dinner at the restaurant they have the best food. I always get a steak and my husband gets something different each time we go. Afterward we sit by the creek and then to the cabin to eat popcorn and watch t.v.

Experience the backwoods of Florida

The hotel and restaurant are wonderful. The location is remote so cell phones have a hard time but the rooms have TVs and WiFi. The Restaurant is amazing lots of history the menu includes some great southern food, Free Range Venison with hunter sauce is one of my favs. The location is beside Cross Creek a location to sit and watch a sunset before going to the bar. Be sure to look in the library it is something lots of books, stuffed animals and a canoe. This is a piece of history.

The Yearling Cabins

We stayed here 10/4/24. This cabin was a lovely step into the past. It was VERY clean and quaint. Bed and bedding was super comfortable. Bathroom has original tile which is in great shape and super clean. Little kitchenette has enough for two and is very clean. Small table with 2 chairs and one recliner. A/C worked great and cooled the whole cabin. One cabin is half of the structure, so if you wanted connecting rooms it could be available. The property is beautiful. We did not eat at the restaurant. Can’t wait to stay again!
