This has obviously been a grand place in days gone by. Loads of wood and a beautiful ornate glass window on the stairs. The room was comfortable and pleasant. Breakfast was very good. The bar was a bit of a let down - poorly maintained. The food there was hearty and reasonably priced.

Nice hotel, friendly staff. Dinner was good quality pub-grub and breakfast was excellent. Room was clean and very smart decor. Was a bit hot at night so perhaps air-con would have been nice, although there was a fan thankfully! Be aware that there is no car park at the hotel, although we got parked fine on the unrestricted side streets. Overall, nice hotel, would recommend.

The room was clean and bright. A bit noisy as it overlooked the road, but worth it to have a location sp close to the station. Staff could not be more helpful. Breakfast was fine. It was £15 for non residents, £12 for breakfasts not previously booked and £10 for residents who booked! Worth knowing! Handy Co op across the road and an excellent Booth’s supermarket very close by.

No parking on site but did manage to find on road space not to far away. Some parking on road is time limited. Reception experience differed depending on who was on duty. Whilst this hotel had lovely clean rooms and nice staff/food etc, I picked it because according to hotels.com, it had onsite secure parking and a lift. On arrival, we found it hard to park and were told there wasn’t any onsite parking and that we should use the train station or wait for a spot to be free in the area. Also, I have some mobility issues but as the description said there was a lift, I thought there would be no problem… however when we arrived we found that the lift only goes up one floor and we were on the third floor. The hotel was full so we couldn’t change rooms.
