Lovely hotel well presented in all area's. Staff very friendly and helpful. Ample parking in front of hotel
Ken, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Very helpful staff and lovely clean room. The shower head was not the cleanest. You must disinfect a shower at least every quarter and log results (legislative). More often if required. Breakfast could have been more flexible with regards to choice and would have preferred not to have paid extra for certain foods. Overall a lovely stay however.

Lovely hotel

Our second time at the Upper House and it didn't disappoint - we had a comfortable stay (in the same room as on our first visit!), and the food was as good as we remembered. We enjoyed the gardens in bloom and the walks from the doorstep. I'm sure it won't be our last visit.

Lovely rural country house hotel

It was our second stay here and it was great. Typical independant country house style hotel in that it has lovely authentic decor and styling, great service, plenty of free parking, nice countryside views, and breakfast included.

What a lovely hotel with great staff

10/10 Exceptional

Quiet rural location in a converted country house. There are a variety of room choices, all include breakfast. The restaurant has some great choices for breakfast. Dinner menu is also good. There’s a cosy little bar in the hotel and other pub and dining options are a short drive away. I have stayed here around 10 times and it is my go-to choice in the area.

Could have been better

Stay was fine but could have been better. Duvet cover had marks on, upholstery of chair in room was stained and saucer at breakfast stained. Nothing major but not what I expected. Service at breakfast was slow

Another comfortable stay whilst visiting my parents in the village. It’s a beautiful property ideal for walks around the area whilst offering home comforts and a great breakfast. I always have a great night sleep and the bathroom facilities are really modern. Customer Service just needs to be a little more personable as I stay here quite regularly and they haven’t yet realised with the ‘welcome to me back’ however it’s perfect for my family.

Beautiful hotel with a spacious garden. The staff were excellent the only gripe I have is that I found the bed too hard for me and had a restless night.

Great hotel

Really nice hotel, which is refreshing when hotels are becoming more of the same. It’s got a lovely ambiance and sits in grounds which are just perfect for a walk before dinner. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful plus the restaurant serves nice food at a very competitive price. We stayed there after my wife went to the Emma Bridgewater factory which is just up the road. It’s also close to the Wedgewood experience if you’re into that sort of thing. A real plus for me were the electric chargers for the car too. Thoroughly recommended.

Beautiful hotel in stunning setting

Beautiful Hotel set in stunning gardens. Friendly and helpful staff. Room was fine, if a bit small, and would have liked an extra chair. Food at breakfast and dinner was superb.

Restfull Stay in beutifull Suroundings

Nice to be in good suroundings in an historic building. Breakfast very good. Dinner is high quality but quite expensive and the portion sizes are a bit on the small side for hungry men. Good for couples visiting area or business people with larger budgets.

We only stayed one night but would love to have stayed longer. Our double room was clean and spacious overlooking the gardens. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was great and varied. We would definitely book this hotel again and would recommend anyone the same.

Comfortable Stay

Lovely family-run friendly hotel. Spotlessly clean and always welcoming and helpful staff. I arrived late and tired and immediately felt relaxed. Great choice at breakfast. Enough free parking. Walkable to the village and a lovely National Trust countryside. Two easy to follow walk routes available at reception. Set in a beautiful garden and grounds, on a hill so great views. The room was very comfortable and had everything you would need.

Beautiful stunning settung & building but feel needs some money spending on rooms to bring them up to date. Breafawas terrible. Left the lot because it was swiming in grease Great value for money though
Angela, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

This was our second stay at the property. We returned not only for the beautiful location & accommodation, but we also enjoyed our dining experience very much. The included breakfast was far above average in terms of selection, taste, and service, and the dinner options were superb. Parking is convenient and included. There is a lift if you need it, and they also have improved their Wifi since our last visit last year. A loud event took place at the hotel our last night but we received communication about it beforehand so it wasn't a problem (music off before 11pm). Our only regret was not taking advantage of the gorgeous lounge for an evening drink!

Upper House visit

Stayed for 3 nights at the Upper House in a double room. This was our second stay at the hotel. We were visiting the British Ceramics Biennial and the hotel is in a good position near Wedgewood to visit the museum and to get to the other exhibitions in Stoke itself. The hotel is in a delightful position outside Stoke near countryside providing excellent walks. It is walkable to the Wedgewood museum. It is also a short drive to Trentham Gardens. The room was comfortable and the food good (breakfast and evening meals). In particular the service by the hotel staff was excellent and very helpful. In particular the dining room staff were excellent - nothing was too much trouble. We would recommend this hotel for visits to Stoke.
Paul, 3-night trip

8/10 Very good

Very elegant well laid out hotel.

The building has plenty of character and has been tastefully refurbished into a hotel. *Plenty of parking just a very high speed bump at the base of the drive. Be careful people with low cars.* The rooms were classic with just a touch of modern tech. I would stay again but only if a room only was possible as breakfast was a bit of a let down. The staffs oatcake was definately not a true represtation of a proper staffordshire oatcake. If you want pastries get down early because they soon disappear and dont seem to get replenished. Staff were very friendly apart from the odd breakfast staff who were very unattentive and didnt seem to be impressed when asked for things although they couldnt wait to leave the room. Beautiful building and grounds would be a nice place to take a dog.
