8/10 Very good

Very good place, the staff is helpful and very close to the City Center. I'm ready to come back Again and would definitely recommend it.

I have stayed in hotels much better for half the price of this hotel. The room smells like a sewer. They don't include shampoo, the neighborhood is not safe at night. Many hostile illegal migrants and drunks. At night I can hear on the street, fighting and bottles being broken. Trust me when i tell you to spend a little more, and get yourself a better hotel. The sewer smell in the room coming from the bathroom gave me headaches and terrible sleep. I will never return to this hotel.

2/10 Poor

We arrived around 6:00 PM after a 20-hour trip from the U.S. with my 10-year-old son, exhausted and jet-lagged, hoping to rest before our 9:00 PM tickets to The Lion King theater show. Unfortunately, we were given a basement room with an overwhelming odor of dampness and sewage. We requested a room change, but were told none were available. The only option provided was a single room upstairs without a private bathroom, despite our booking being for a double room with en-suite. No refund or discount was offered despite the downgrade. The lack of support during such a difficult travel day was deeply disappointing. I’ve stayed in many places around the world, and this was sadly one of the worst experiences I’ve had. I would not recommend this property.

More a hostel than a hotel. Located in fascinating zone, with wide range of restaurants. Helpful staff, but facilities a bit high priced for quality

2/10 Poor

It wasn’t specified we wouldn’t get a room with bathroom

The worst place I’ve ever spent a night. Expedia should remove them as a hotel option. One night there was a mouse in the lobby, our room flooded with water coming out of the wall and there were worms on the floor the next morning. Shady characters hanging out in the shop next door every night that we had to pass through to get to the front door. There are better options just a few blocks up the road.

Way too expensive for the type of place. We were on a non-smoking room and the smell of cigarette was all over the room. You can hear the noice from the street so we couldnt rest well.

10/10 Exceptional

Great location walkable to many restaurants/convenience stores/attractions. Great value for money. Hospitable host and very responsive. We mentioned that the room was cold and even though we did not pay for the $10 for the heater control, the host gave us a portable heater to use for our stay there. Host was responsive in helping us make payment because there was an issue with our initial payment. Room unfortunately smelled of cigarettes.

Bad experience

There were hairs on the sheets and pillows. People screaming at all hours of the night making it impossible to sleep.
Eric, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

We stayed at Motel Lavapiés for two nights. Here’s my review: Location: The location is convenient, close to many shops and restaurants, and within a 15-20 minute walk to more vibrant areas. Facilities: We booked two rooms with the expectation of a shared bathroom between them, but it turned out the bathroom was shared by all the rooms on the floor. If you’re particular about hygiene, this might not be the best option. The rooms themselves are average, and there is a shared fridge and microwave available for all guests. Noise: The most frustrating part of the stay was the noise. Both nights were filled with loud noises and shouting, which made it difficult to sleep.

Don’t stay there

Don’t stay there! This so called hotel is the worst one I’ve ever been in. It’s smelly and sticky. It has cockroaches and other insects in its rooms. The rooms are not clean and you get dirty sheets in bed. The rooms at the basement has no open windows. You get no shampoo and no hairdryer or other things you need when you travel.
Daniel, 4-night trip

A lot of noise outside and inside the hotel at night. Just one towel and they don't have hand and face towels in the bathrooms. And don't give you a extra covertor because is cold. Mucho ruido afuera y adentro durante la noche. Solo te dan una toalla. Y no hay toalla en los baños para las manos y cara. Y no te dan un cobertor extra para el frío.

Avoid if possible

The bed, room and furniture were dirty and in bad repair. The room was tiny. The bed filled 90% of it. The staff, whilst friendly, were a bit intrusive in the room, actually walking in on my friend as she was going to bed and I was in the bathroom. We didn't get large towels, only tiny ones and when asked for large ones, we were at first ignored and then told they'd be left in the cupboard. We found some drinking glasses that were caked in grime, and nothing to wash them with. The bed had some drops of red on it, we prayed wasn't blood. The street outside was noisy, which doesn't usually bother us but it seemed the window didn't close properly. The location was pretty good, but I think for the money paid, you could definitely get a better place.

do not visit this hotel

I had booked a double room, however the hotel has most of the room in the basement (level -1) and then you have a tiny window. If you open that, passers-by walking on the sidewalk can throw everything in. And a dog that wants to urinate just does so in your room. Very strange situation. In the bathroom it smelled enormously of sewer air. The lock of the bathroom door was broken so I had to fold a piece of paper many times to keep the door closed because of the stench, see photo. Also killed a cockroach. Bed was very uncomfortable, there is a shelf with a thin mattress on it. Because the room was so uncomfortable, I asked for another room immediately upon arrival. I was offered a room without my own shower/toilet and I didn't want that. So back to that first chamber. Officially it is a 1* hotel but that is definitely one star too many!
