10/10 Excellent
"We had an exceptional stay here! The owner, Manuel, was so kind and helpful. He recommended several wonderful wineries and restaurants. The property is clean and beautiful. The pool is lovely. The breakfast was delicious and they were accommodating of food allergies. The location was very convenient. We can’t wait to come back!"
"Beautiful hotel with fantastic staff. Food was great in both the main restaurant and Schisto (tasting menu). Wine tasting at their vineyard was informative snd fun."
"We stayed 3 nights at the adjacent building Casa Amarela and we knew ahead of time that there would be steps to access the room- not a problem with that. However, our room is about a 5-6 minute walk from the reception and the main restaurant—not a problem unless you have luggage—- as the walk is a bit hilly.
On arrival our luggage was brought to Casa Amarela via a golf cart- not us- luggage only and that helped.
Upon departure they completely refused to transport the luggage to the reception to check out and wait for the taxi. The first taxi I called said he couldn’t pick us up at Amarela, only at the reception. I had to cancel this taxi and request another one thru the hotel that would get all the way where I was. I was told 15-20 minutes for the taxi. It took 30 minutes without any update from the front desk. I had to call twice to check on the status.
It was a hassle to get some ice. Tim’s Terrace said they didn’t have any, even though they serve drinks,
therefore I had to walk to Cozinha da Clara. Again the reception staff was aware I wanted ice and they made no effort whatsoever to assist.
Tim’s Terrace closes too early for food. The main restaurant Cozinha da Clara wants to give the impression of formality and exclusivity however instead it feels pretentious and unwelcoming- we didn’t stay.
The view was pretty, the room was comfortable (we could deal with the stairs) and clean and the breakfast was excellent. I would not stay again due to the poor service."
"So the staff were superb, particularly claudia.i had a small problem with the bike ,she was on the the phone to various garages, gave me her personal number in case I needed a translator, she finally found a garage that could do the work, and even called them to make sure I found it ok, just an outstanding human, I have friends who would have done less,I'm very much in her gratitude, overall the hotel is good.breakfast really nice, and people friendly,I don't know if it was too early in the season but the restaurant was closed so no dining at the hotel, maybe check.the pool and spa looked first class but didn't have chance to use them in my 2 day stay"
"You must have a car while visiting this property. Otherwise there is nothing to do. There is a very nice outdoor pool that is not heated. So it must be warm enough outside to enjoy it.
The hotel offers a nice breakfast. There is no bar or restaurant at the hotel. About a half mile walk from the hotel is a very expensive restaurant with a limited menu. I don't believe it is open for lunch. Another reason you need a car.
During check in I noticed a large hose slightly larger than a dryer hose going into one of the rooms down the hallway. I inquired about it and the staff said it was for construction. After checking into our downstairs room which was very nice ( the hotel is a beautiful property with beautiful views of the vineyards and countryside) we went for a walk on the property. We noticed a red truck in the courtyard with a hose going inside the hotel. This was the hose I saw earlier. The truck said Heatwork, Rentokil. My wife believed it was for the killing of bedbugs. We left the next day one day earlier than our planned stay and were not given a refund. The hotel did not answer or reply to my calls or email when asking for a refund for the one night.
In summary, a great place to stay if you have a car and just want to chill at the pool."
"Great location, clean, classy, the view from the pool area is exceptional. Breakfast was great, the staff was very helpful. Safe, locked garage for parking. You will not regret staying here!"
