10/10 Excellent
"What a lovely location by the river. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The room was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The views from our room were stunning."
"Great location very dog friendly and the staff were excellent. Great selection of beers, cocktails and wines.
Will definitely be back for another visit."
"Great location, lovely staff, comfy bed. Room and furnishings all looking pretty tired and like they could do with an update, and what looked like mould on the bathroom ceiling presumably due to the lack of ventilation there. Breakfast was fairly average. Would stay again but best not to have particularly high expectations."
"Our room (deluxe double) was nice but incredibly hot, as was the weather. It’s an old building & suffers in the heat.
Breakfast was very average. We had to ask for croissants. It was apparently first come first served on the buffet table which seemed a bit bizarre. A request to have hollandaise on the side of my eggs Benedict was ignored.
Dinner was ok. Staff were helpful.
Reception staff get many gold stars for being so helpful & kind re items I carelessly left in the room. Efficient & scrupulously honest. Thankyou. 😊😊😊"
"We really enjoyed our short stay here. The accommodation is immaculate. Such a lovely peaceful environment to stay. I would definitely recommend this stay to friends and family."
"My family stayed in 2 superior rooms for one night. There is no lift so luggage has to be carried up the stairs. Room 14 was on the first floor and huge, room 30 was on the second floor and slightly smaller. The shower was over the bathtub with a curtain. The staff in the restaurant and elsewhere were excellent and we enjoyed the food (bearing in mind this is a Greene King, not a Michelin starred restaurant :). There are lovely views from the patio where you can have a drink from the bar.
For the price, we were very happy with our stay and would certainly recommend the hotel to others."
"The accommodation was clean and spacious. The decor is quite dark, but probably because of the dark beams. The welcome in the pub wasn’t great, we weren’t acknowledged whilst standing with our bags in the pub. I understand the stafff are busy, but a simple’hello, we’ll be with you in a minute’ would be nice. We didn’t see any members of staff as the breakfast is a completely self service buffet. On the whole we would have felt more welcome if somebody had appeared at some point eg maybe when you return the key, rather than in a basket in the kitchen area."
"The room, although small ,had everything and more..homemade flapjack, ground coffee, fridge with water and mik in.
The food and many drinks, locally sourced and beautiful. Tastes untasted before..lovely "
"This place is amazing !! One of the most welcoming and friendly places I have ever stayed in across the entire UK. The oweners and staff are the most naturally friendly people I have
ever encountered in the hospitality trade. The place is so well run, from the booking to the check in to the bar, the food and the wonderful accommodation. We had 2 ground floor rooms and stayed for 5 night, the beds were king size and so comfortable, none of this putting 2 beds together. Proper king-size beds, the rooms were large, clean and so comfortable. The shower was great and so easy to use, one press of a button. My companion needed to work one day and the WiFi was excellent. But really it was the calibre of staff and owners that made the place shine !! It really did feel like home, without being over bearing. Also it is excellent value for money. I would return in a heartbeat and will certainly book there again if ever we return to the region. Thank you for making our stay so memorable.Keep up the good work !!!"
