"The apartment was in a very central location, only a few moments away from the main shopping mall in Funchal, and coffee shop almost on the doorstep. There was a kitchenette, washing machine and ironing board provided, and all useful utensils provided (even sachets of oil for using the frying pan). Check in was simple with the use of door codes. "The Barcelo is the perfect place to stay. It is close to the water front, cathedral, main town. The oldest street and cable car are just a five minute walk. The hotel itself is lovely. Breakfast is delicious and the buffet selection well stocked. Staff are really friendly and helpful. The rooftop pool, although not very deep, is lovely to cool down in. The views from the rooftop are delightful in the day and night. Definitely worth staying here."

"This hotel is amazing! Staff were friendly and helpful. Both pool areas are fantastic. We did not eat at the hotel, so cannot comment on this. Room was lovely. Comfortable and luxurious. The hotel is only a 5 minute walk onto the promende (downhill), and 5 min walk (uphill) to get to a small selection of cafes and restaurants. Would most definately return in future. Highly recommend!"
