A little more modest than other lakes, there are still 4 parks surrounding Lake Blackshear that are home to some stunning wildlife. Interestingly, not every tree was removed before the lake was formed, which means several living Cypress trees dwell in the middle of the water.

6. Lake Blue Ridge

Gazing at the turquoise waters of Blue Ridge Lake, you’d be forgiven if you thought you were on some far-off tropical island rather than in north Georgia. The shorelines here might not be sandy, but 80% of them are made up of the verdant Chattahoochee National Forest so you’ll be able to snap some gorgeous photos.
There are a few recreation areas around Blue Ridge Lake, including a day-use area for quieter relaxation and watersports. Morganton Point campground is very well-equipped, complete with grills, tent pads, public bathrooms, and a great swimming area. Head to the marina to enjoy dinner with a view at the local restaurant or to hire kayaks and paddleboards.

7. Lake Allatoona

Most of Nottely Lake’s 106 miles (170 km) of shoreline is completely undeveloped, so any getaway is sure to be quiet and peaceful. If you’re not one for camping, consider renting a luxurious cabin.
