Our first room on the ground floor of the main building smelt strongly on damp, as did the second. We were finally moved to a room on the fifth floor, which didn't smell damp. All three rooms were dated, with various marks/stains on bed headboards, lampshades, bathrooms walls, etc. Restaurant and pool areas were generally pleasant and well maintained. Frustratingly, people are up early to reserve deck chairs/loungers (both pool and beach). You're lucky to find two free if arriving after 7am - the vast vast majority are unused, but are 'reserved' with towels, bags, books.

We have had a wonderful stay at Villa del Palmar! We did the all inclusive option, and it was so convenient to feed our picky kids. We mostly used the smaller of the 2 pools - it has a great view of the ocean. The beach area is lovely... there are ve dors sellong massages, braids, jewelry etc... kind of annoying, but to no fault of the property as the beach is a federal zone. We appreciated the laid back feel of this resort for our family - if you are looking for a party, this isn't it. The theme nights were entertaining as well. We left the property a few times, there are taxis readily available at the entrance. There is a small store - definitely overpriced, but walmart is a shoet raxi ride away. The rooms are bright and clean, woth a well appointed kitchenette. Overall, for a 3 star resort, this place is excellent and we will definitely return in the future!

We come back to Villa Del Palmar at Puerto Vallarta every now and then. We have been to a few other resorts, but Villa Del Palmar has been our favorite. This particular one at Puerto Vallarta has (a) very friendly staff who go out of the way to make you feel welcome (b) great quality of food, which taste authentic and high quality (c) a very short distance from the airport which makes it convenient to commute to/fro the airport.
