Our stay at Luquillo Sunrise Beach Resort was a bit underwhelming overall, despite a beautiful view.
The balcony view was lovely, especially overlooking the ocean, and everything in the room was clean, which we appreciated. That said, the property definitely feels like it needs an update — nothing was dirty, just dated.
Be prepared for stairs. We were on the third floor with no elevator, which meant carrying luggage up ourselves. We only had carry-ons, so it was manageable, but with larger bags it would have been rough.
Unfortunately, the bed was very uncomfortable and flat, making it hard to get a good night’s sleep. To add to that, there was a dog barking most of the night from a house behind the hotel, which disrupted rest.
It also stormed during our stay, so we didn’t really get to experience the beach or the surrounding area, making it harder to fully judge the location itself.
Overall, the views and cleanliness were positives, but comfort issues, noise, and the lack of updates made this a less enjoyable stay than we hoped.
