Keep the DND sign on the door!

We attempted to utilize the Do Not Disturb sign on the door but the housekeeping and staff still knocked on the door multiple times. One morning, while my wife was asleep the maid knocked once and then barged straight into our room without hesitation. The revive lounge breakfast and snacks were great but the drinks were locked inside the mini fridge. The front desk even called us the day of check in to confirm we were still on the way. Maybe 15 minutes after checking in, the front desk called the room phone to make sure the room was to our liking but we were already asleep by this point. Overall we felt an invasion of privacy and won’t be returning.

Generally good value close to beach

Close to the beach and Vons grocery store. Room was clean and comfortable. I could hear ice machine and alley noises but not too bad. Had a minor issue getting room made up (wasn't done first day so asked for coffee, was half done second day so I asked them to come in to finish). Front staff was accommodating.

So here's the thing, I'm not sure what's going on with this app"s guest reviewers. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful - they're truly lovely. However this is a very very basic hotel. So if you give the service five stars and the hotel three stars... this should only be a four star and when I looked at the rating it was 4.8 which would make it outstanding like the Ritz... Yes, if you're looking for an economical hotel in this area, i would recommend it, but don't get too excited by it's rating.

Well Run Boutique Hotel!

Good location to Convention Center, felt safe walking around in the evening. Nice hotel, may not want to stay on ground floor, but there are only stairs for the upper floors. Restaurants, Vons (Fridge in room) and coffee are within an easy walk. I found street parking (very lucky from the looks of it!) and felt it was safe with all the small apartments nearby, locals coming and going... They offer off-street parking but I didn't need it so can't report. Do look at the street-sweeping signs if you park on street, the days/times change every block it seems!

Huh…

Room not ready after checking. Moved to an “upgraded”room. Basically the same type room, up one floor, but with an aroma generator (no instructions) an air filter (same) and some sort of filter on the shower…no clue what it was. If the room was being renovated, it didn’t show. So many unfinished trim areas, bath window looking into some weird exterior shaft…mirror above toilet…not the sink. Then after checking (9:27pm to be exact) a knock on the door and a staff member asking if I could change the check-in to a five star. Nope. Because it wasn’t.
