We visited this Quality Inn in Asheville from Chattanooga to support local businesses after the floods, and we brought our dog along for the trip. Overall, we had a good time exploring the area. The room was perfectly adequate—nothing to write home about, but it met our needs. However, the continental breakfast was disappointing, probably the worst I’ve had at a hotel of this caliber. I’ve stayed at other Quality Inns and had a much better experience with the food.
The real issue came after we checked out. We were charged a $250 fee for pet urine on the bed. This caught me completely off guard. Our dog never sleeps in the bed—he actually prefers his kennel, where he stays when we’re not in the room. The hotel claimed there was a bright fluorescent stain on the sheets, and as soon as I heard that, I knew exactly what it was. I have a medical condition, and unfortunately, what they saw was stomach bile—not pet urine. I understand how it could have been mistaken, but I immediately tried to reach out to the hotel to explain although it’s embarrassing. Despite multiple attempts, no manager has returned my calls, and when I contacted corporate, I was told they couldn’t help because this location is a franchise.
The lack of accountability and communication has been incredibly frustrating. I’ve always tried to support Choice Hotels, but after this experience, I’ll likely avoid Quality Inn properties altogether. I just hope others have a smoother stay than we did.
