Waterford lodge is in an excellent location a few minutes walk into the High Street, free parking is available, we stayed in room 1 which was a large room the double bed the room was clean as was the bathroom, the furniture is dated but thats down to preference, There is a bar and food is served ( we didn't eat there but saw food being brought to tables it both looked and smelled lovely.

As a single older woman I was looking for just an overnight stay enroute from Scotland to south England and this historic ‘budget’ hotel could offer a single night at very good value. Although it was ‘tired’ it offered a well lived in, homely feel with on site parking and was very clean. The linen and towels were fresh with spare pillows/ blanket. There was a beer garden attached to the bar /dining room which seemed full with happy banter/ laughter. It was a friendly, helpful place, not impersonal. By 10.30/11 it was quiet. (Guests were helpful/ friendly too!) I’d stay there again on my travels!

Good: good quality, clean towels and bedding. The room was very clean. Parking behind the hotel was easy and free. Tea and coffee provided. Not so good: the mattress was awful, and uncomfortable, so soft and wet rolled in the middle. Worst night's sleep ever. Shower was pretty awful. Took forever to get hot water. The it was boiling hot or freezing cold. Bathroom door was warped didn't shut Walls very thin, you can hear other guests.

Staff were helpful & friendly. Family room was spacious, clean enough (except used tissue under bed) the room does need updated. There was an unpleasant damp odour in the room, had the windows opened for a few hours to freshen the room. Breakfast and the service next morning was great. Overall the 1 night stay served a purposed although the rooms in this old hotel definitely need updated.

Staff were all lovely and very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean overall, could perhaps do with someone to clean the bathroom with a fresh pair of eyes as some areas are being overlooked. Overall though, excellent value and we would happily go back - would recommend.

Staff were brilliant I have had breakfast before and fantastic plenty to eat Bar. And outside area great lots of room Sad to say it all needs updating up stairs. All bathrooms need updating and decor and carpets need gone. Definitely the WiFi needs sorting out so you can get on it when you are in your room I wanted to chill out and watch Netflix but no internet Apart from that always a lovely stay and they accept dogs which is fab

This centrally located hotel is perfect for a trip in or around Morpeth. We were a group of four in two rooms. The rooms were large and spacious, and the beds comfortable and clean. The rooms and public areas would benefit from some decoration as they detract from the fantastic customer service the staff offers. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if we were in the area

Room Essentials provided. Lacked bedside shelf or table. Had to stand on stool to open only small window. Plenty of tea, coffee, milk etc. shower fine. Very clean. Could do with a chair. Fan provided but not used. Parking behind hotel. Could see car from room. Breakfast very good. 8.3am last time a bit early for us. Felt we got good value. Didn't need to have other meals there or use bar but premises spacious, nice decor, menu looked fine and staff very friendly and helpful.

On first arrival, we were relieved, as the hotle seemed quite nice. However, after we walked down the stairs to our room, we were hit with a strong smell of damp, which unfortunately also smelled quite strongly in the room. We were also at street level with a public pavement right outside, so didn't feel like we could leave the windows open safely.

This was like stepping into the 60s ! The room was large but wallpaper peeling off walls and ceiling, stuck to the carpet when you walked on it and the worst creaky floorboards, the lino in the bathroom was cracked and split and lifting and bathroom itself wasn't great. Bed was very basic with the thinnest pillows I'd ever seen. The doors don't seem very secure and looked like someone had scratched the door badly in a bid to get out. The room was only missing the outline of a dead body on the floor ! Staff could really do with a lesson in customer service, rude and unhelpful ! The reception is unmanned so I was waiting ages. When I tried to check out I had to go into the kitchen and ask for help. Overall very unwelcoming and the worst room ive ever seen, so much so we went and stayed somewhere else as we felt really unsafe. This hotel needs massive refurbishment and some properly trained staff not ignored ! Would not recommend unless you like places like the Bates motel

Staff were very friendly at check-in/checkout and lovely at breakfast. Food was fresh with lots of choice. Room was a good size and very comfy bed. A bit of noise from the main road and the only downside was that the "hot" water was lukewarm. But only stayed one night so wasn't a massive issue. Would stay again. :)
