Location>hotel

The selling points for this hotel are obviously location and ocean view. These were only the biggest positives. The property as a whole appeared outdated and showed significant wear& tare compared to other oceanside properties we've been to. In our room, the floor and tables were grimy/sticky to touch. Our sink drained very slowly, causing water to back up into the sink. Our minifridge did not work. And lastly, the bathroom area was tiny considering the price point of this hotel (opening the door nearly scrapes the edgebof the toilet and there's no space between toilet and shower). Regarding service, We called for extra towels at about 8:30p our first night since there were only 2 face towls and 2 large towels for the 3 of us. No one answered when we called front desk. I had to use my cell and call the hotel number directly, which rang several times until it was answered. I was told house keeping would bring some towels, but they never arrived. To their credit, when I told the front desk about these issues the next day, the sink was fixed, mini fridge was replaced, and we had new extra towels. Though we loved South Padre Island's beaches and food, we won't stay at this particular hotel unless several updates are made.

Due diligence

Great location, parking sucks, building was 80 plus degrees inside. Coffee machines broken. Swim up bar ok but tv was never turned on. Breakfast buffet was ok. Workout center was nice. Easy beach access. Fridge did not work in the room. $5.00 bottles of water were all that were offered in the room. Looks like one and done for this place.

Sad news for what could be a good stay.

Upon checking in, I asked directions to a well known Bar & Grill but the staff demonstrated an unfriendly and reluctant interest in helping me. Our bathroom door couldn't be shut completely. We had no phone service in the room until the next day. The bar area closest to the beach was very messy, seemingly attended by one, so very unkempt. The morning breakfast buffet was simple but the replenishment of contents was slow. Nowhere in the hotel is there complimentary coffee except a cup in the room, nothing available until 7am. In the main bar area in the lobby, there were some fried potato remnants on the floor and an empty fast food drink cup at 8am left from the night before. The clerk at the desk would not provide me with a receipt when I check-ed out and only when I insisted did she verbally tell me the total amt I was charged. The property has the potential of being a great place with new management who knows how to train the staff.

So so stay

The room for the most part was fine, bed was comfortable, nice and spacious, some items in the room were looking a bit tired and stained. Our main issue was with the amenities, in particular the big middle pool is in very bad shape and didn’t look clean at all. Kudos on the entertainment in the lobby area! Overall for the money we paid for the room we were disappointed, it was our 20th anniversary trip and not quite the getaway we had imagined.

Worst Hotel Stay Ever

Extremely Disappointed – Worst Hotel Stay Ever I don’t usually leave reviews, but my stay at Holiday Inn Express was so awful that I feel obligated to warn others. From start to finish, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. First off, the check-in process was painfully slow, and the front desk staff were rude and unhelpful. I felt like I was bothering them just by showing up. When I finally got to my room, it was filthy — dirty sheets, a musty smell, and what looked like mold in the bathroom. Housekeeping clearly did not do their job. To make matters worse, the air conditioning barely worked, and when I called the front desk, they said maintenance wouldn’t be available until the next day — no apology, no alternative room offered. I barely got any sleep because the room was so hot and stuffy. The "free breakfast" was another joke. Cold eggs, stale pastries, and watery coffee — not what you expect from a hotel that claims to care about guest experience. This was supposed to be a relaxing stay, and it turned into a complete disaster. I will never stay at a Holiday Inn Express again and strongly advise others to think twice before booking. Save your money and go somewhere that actually values its guests.l

Family friendly getaway

We enjoyed the resort and the access to the beach for great. The Sea side restaurant and bar was great. I would recommend their nachos. Our kids loved the game area they had in the lobby area.

Great beach access! Tower B smells awful. Pools need some major TLC. Went to the front to ask for some washcloths around 11pm, after the pools closed, was told housekeeping was gone for the day (they only leave 3 in the room). Charge $50 for chairs/umbrella at the beach. Overall, decent hotel—just needs some through maintenance.

We stayed in room 337 Beach view, but the window was full of sanding obstructed the view the door hits the toilet, the dresser doesn’t even lineup to where you can put your clothes into it, the door does not open correctly and is super hard to even push open, which makes it hard to even lock, the room smells like mold when I asked if we could be moved because of the door, the window, the drawers they were going to put us in a room that did not even view the beach when we paid for a beach view. The fire alarm went off at least five times most of those were in the middle of the night. We were there with our kids. And it woke them up every time screaming because they did not know what was going on now to the pools. The pools are falling apart. The mosaic tiles were all just in the bottom from the side of the pool. Yes, they do have three pools all of them need TLC. The elevators don’t have AC in them and go super slow and when they are packed because everybody tried to pile into them because they go so slow it is very hot and uncomfortable. The parking is just crazy. The water that came out of the sink in the bathtub smell like sewage .We left Saturday morning Friday night. They had $20 parking for people that could just come in there and park so that means you would lose your spot or anywhere to park because they gave somebody a day pass to park there. holiday Inn beachfront gets a one star rating. This place needs so much need renovations.

Disappointing Stay- would Not recommend

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Resort in South Padre Island and unfortunately, my experience was far from what you’d expect from a reputable resort. Right from the start, the room was not in great shape. Several electrical outlets didn’t work at all, which was frustrating when trying to charge devices. The floors were sticky and dirty — walking barefoot left the bottoms of my feet literally black. The shower had serious drainage issues and pooled water around my feet every time I used it. There was a sticky residue on the table, and some of the lamps were rusty, which gave the room a very neglected feel. It clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned or maintained. On top of all that, the customer service was underwhelming. Calls to the front desk went unanswered multiple times, and when I finally got someone, they didn’t seem very interested in helping. For the price and brand, I expected a much better experience. Sadly, I can’t recommend staying here unless the property goes through serious maintenance and staff training.

Major makeover needed.

No AC in the hallways only in the lobby and your rooms. There are ice machines on each floor however they do not work. The only floor that had ice was on three. If you choose the buffet breakfast, which is $13 a person the food is the same each day and the food was OK. No free coffee in the lobby for guest. You have to purchase at 3:25 a cup? The pools were not kept up. If you stay more than one day, they will come in and make your bed, but that is it. They don’t andd extra towels or extra coffee. If you used it you have to go down to the lobby. They also do not empty the trash cans. The bathroom very small. Have to stand in the tub to open the door to get out not kidding. Phone did not work in the room. Staff was nice, but had nothing to work with. Location is convenient to waterpark.
