Great stay Hatfield Lodge

Room for 4 adults was good in Hatfield lodge, although not much of view on it unless if you’re in Hatfield Hotel. Facilities looks new, just stone throw from the seaside, breakfast is great and resto staffs are very accomodating and friendly. There are no staff by the reception in the Lodge, therefore you have to go to the Hatfield hotel to check in and get your access card. There is only one card given to occupants so if someone wants to stay behind when you want to go out you can’t take the access card with you as it will swithed off the electric power in the room. Perhaps we never tried asking for spare access card as only stayed overnight.

Our one night stay at the Hatfield Lodge was perfectly adequate, the room was clean and comfortable and the walk-in shower was good. Our only issue was, that the bed was a small double, but it was comfortable.

Cold, damp and staff don’t care

Cold, damp and staff didn’t care about any issues we had. We checked in late on a Friday night and stayed in the lodge part. We walked in to what can only be described as an ice box of a room. So cold that the towels were damp. After sleeping in our jumpers and freezing all night we found that someone (likely cleaning staff) had left a window wide open. The issue was that it was so high it couldn’t have been seen in the dark or reached without standing on a chair. Even with that closed, the measly little electric radiator barely did enough to warm the room, shutting off when we left made any sense of warmth disappear. Having young kids, this was not good enough. After asking twice for some kind of heater we eventually got one and had to have that and the room radiator going all night just to keep warm. No wonder there were so many damp patches in the room. To top off our stay, we were told on the second day that breakfast was not included despite giving us breakfast the day before. Again after bringing this up no one seemed to care until we spoke to the assistant manager. I’m sure had everything gone right the hotel might be ok, but in this instance nothing went right and I could not recommend staying here at all.
