One of the best beaches of Cozumel

this is the 3rd time my family, and I stayed at the Cozumeleño. we like this hotel because it has one of the best beaches in Cozumel. The service is good in relation to the hotel category, very helpful staff. We noticed that the hotel has less variety in food. The day we arrived the pool wasn´t very clean but next day the problem was solved. there was just something I didn't like. There was a tourist, I guess she was Afro-American who was behaving unproperly for a familiar hotel and showing her body. There was a lady at the front desk who saw her behaviour and didn´t tell her anything, on the contrary, she was smiling at her for the things she was doing. She saw I was with my kids sited and didn´t say anything to her. I guess because she was American, I wonder what had happened if that woman had been Mexican. I do recommend the hotel overall for the front beach it has and the good service of most of the personnel. The food is acceptable.

Yes I’d go again

The hotel was very clean and the ocean view from the room was amazing. The room was huge! I’d say it is a little dated but that didn’t bother me at all. The bed and pillows were comfortable. They had a fabulous beach. The water was clear and calm and so many fish. The food was good too.

Needs an uplift

We booked a king bed but got 2 double beds that were very uncomfortable &my husband is really tall so his legs were hanging off the bed. The staff works really hard with what they have. The hotel is well over due an update. Once they do get it updated it will be a really good hotel.

I have to say the service is wonderful and everybody works very hard. The rooms are very old. The mattress is ancient and the bed very hard … a/c was set at freezing and we could not change it even after saying something. If we turned the air conditioner off the floor would Very slippery. There is no phone in the room for emergencies and no minibar. Twice the room key didn’t work and they sent up a guy to fix it, which took a half an hour the first time in 20 minutes the next The à la cart restaurant had good food but it took an hour and a half so we only went once . At the buffet, the food all tastes the same, but there was usually something edible. They have several small pools and everyone seem to be having a good time. Entertainment during the day, but nothing at night that we saw. There were so many birds around pooping everywhere… in the pools And in the buffet. Some of the drinks tasted like soap to me, and I couldn’t figure out why. The bartenders would take your cup if you Had your own, and Dunk it in soapy dish water to rinse it. The same with the blender. If you didn’t have your own cup, they give you drinks in a plastic cup that smells like the drink that was in it before hand . The drinks that didn’t taste like soap weren’t bad. I think if this hotel needs a serious update, it will do well because it is in a good spot, and the view is nice and Customer service was awesome. We made the best of it, but we will not stay there again.

This property is very run down, which ok, however the lady was rude at front desk first room was filthy smelly and holes in ceiling. The buffet in 5 days did not change meals plans for any meals at all. But the staff around grounds and dining area were amazing,

The good: The staff and workers (except for the Guest Services rep) were pleasant, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure we had a good vacation. The room and facilities felt a little dated, but I wasnt expecting perfection for a 40 year old facility. The food was good and there were plenty of options, but did get monotonous by the 5th day of our stay. The drinks were plentiful but nothing top shelf. We loved the location and the snorkeling which was out of this world. The bad: Check in was atrocious as it took too long and the check-in agent (aka guest services) was cranky. The agent did not greet us, he did not smile, he did really regard us, he just demanded "passports!" and apathetically worked the overly cumbersome check-in process. I tried to be friendly and chat about our honeymoon at the resort 30 years ago, but he gave cranky dismissive responses. When my wife called him on his bad attitude, he said I was interrupting him. He also charged my credit card $1200 USD instead of 1200 pesos for "environmental fees" but reversed it when I pointed out his mistake. We saw this employee deal with other customers the same way, so know the issue is not us. My recommendation is he gets customer service training to realize his job is to satisfy the customer and pretend to care. Thank you El Cozumeleno and staff. If the had not been our check-in agent (think Operational Maintenance And Repair) it probably would have been a much more pleasant experience.

We liked most of the staff. They were very helpful and energetic. Staff at front desk were very limited in the information they provided at check-in. We had to go back to get our towel cards and our safe key as we were not told about them. They also never mentioned anything about having to make reservations in the dining room for dinner. We found the rooms were clean on the surface, but the tiles needed a better cleaning. The faucets were corroded and some of the furniture had rust spots on them. The curtains had mildew on them and our room was very musty smelling. There was no entertainment at night. The hot tub was also the same cold temperature as the pool. A nice part was that there were always pool chairs available at any time of the day. The food at the buffet was just OK. Tended to be the same menu day after day.

Do not stay here. Sadly, this place is nothing like the pictures. Everything was rusty, broken or falling apart. Our patio chair was broken, the sliding glass door was broken, we were given OPEN and half gone bottled water, the food was not good (a lot of cross contamination and unsanitary things), I ordered fish and was given steak, most of the staff are grumpy and not helpful, it was stinky and mouldy. There was no phone to call the front desk, I booked a king bed and was given 2 doubles, and they did nothing to make it right. Very unhappy with my stay.
