Great eco-stay

We had a brilliant stay and only wished it could have been longer. The state park is superb, with great biking trails and good facilities at the campsite. The cottages are a great place to stay. Their location on the lake-front is brilliant; they are spacious and well equipped, including free bikes, and fuelled bbq and fire pit.

This is natures Paradise at its finest. We loved discovering this 6500 state park acreage the pool was beautiful and heated for our grandchildren, the daily breakfast were wonderful, we loved having some more at the fire pit, and having the bikes to ride all day was a treat. The only drawback was not having a washer and dryer in the three bedroom cottage, we will definitely come back again. Also, the communication with the state park was great through the Expedia app. We always felt safe and we enjoyed the nature center.

Excellent quiet location. This place is like an oasis from the hustle and bustle of Gulf Shores & orange Beach. We loved it and would come back! The only thing we would suggest is adding a washer & dryer to each cottage.

Furniture very uncomfortable. Listed as a queen and full. Both beds were full by beds. Cabin is only cleaned before you arrive. And if you want more towels, you either have to do laundry or make sure you bring them with you. Door code didn't work. We called and nothing was done to rectify this.

Upon checking in I quickly realized the cabin I had been placed in, cabin 19, was not listed anywhere in the pictures given to review the property. They apparently renovated one of the lake side cabins and that’s the only images they provided because the cabin my family was put in was very disappointing. The first thing I noticed upon arriving at the cabin was it was no where near the lake as advertised it was a good 5-10 min drive from where the cabin is located to the lake. I’m not sure what the $200 cleaning fee renters have to pay is supposed to go towards but the cabin was filthy when we checked in. There were dust bunnies under everything and all a layer of dust on top of every surface and besides the cleanliness the cabin is actually leaning. When I was washing dishes after we finished dinner on our first night there I noticed the water was running at a diagonal across the sink, and speaking of water don’t plan on a long shower because you only get about 5 min of hot water, we had to heat water on the stove in order to bath my little boy, oh yea there is no bathtub which we were not told so we had to bathe my son in the kitchen sink. This place is in need of some serious maintenance. The screen porch has holes all in the screens and doesn’t keep the insects out at all but the thing I found the most disturbing was the fact there is a hot electrical wire sticking out of the fireplace for some reason. My wife and I were highly disappointed and will not be returning.

wrong bed description on Hotels.com

Great location but the description on hotels.com was wrong for the size of the beds. It was two full beds instead of a queen a double. But we slept good anyway and the cabin met our needs. But I would have gone with a larger cabin if the description was correct.

I had a really good stay with my family. I absolutely loved the walking trails and the bike rentals. Of course, the bike rentals were free. The only problem I had was the cleaning fee of $180. I believe that is difficult to get folks to clean places and obviously at the beach that is at a premium. However When you’re obligated to wash dishes and take trash out and strip beds I think the $180 is excessive.
