Beautiful property, full of charm and interesting antique finds! We stayed in the Crystal apartment, which was perfect for our family of 4 with two teens. Be aware that the street can get a bit noisy, but that’s true everywhere in Old San Juan. Our hosts were friendly and responsive, and the neighborhood is delightful. We’d definitely stay here again!

The Casa of Essence was a pleasant stay in old town San Juan. It is convenient to plaza Colon and therefore easy drop-off and pick-up. The hotel is hard to find as there isn't a sign, but the communication was excellent. The doors are opened by codes and the room was pleasantly cool. I highly recommend Casa of Essence.

This property was uniquely decorated, clean and accessible via walking to stores, markets, restaurants, shopping, historical site seeing & night life! The property owner responded in a reasonable time for questions and it felt like a home away from home! I will be returning!!

Not a single plate or utensil. No staff. AC worked fine because the room was so small. Water temp in shower was Luke warm which was fine for me but a big negative for my sweetheart who loves hot. Only cold water in the sink. Biggest positive was central location in Old San Juan.

Great location right next to all the activity...bars restaurants and shopping/entertainment. Shower barely worked and couldn't get any hot water other than warm. Clean and easy check in. Perfect location and reasonable price.

The room was quaint. Being an old building it had some mechanical issues with the water flow in the shower and a toilet that didn't always flush right because of a stuck float. Overall nice place and would stay again.
