A perfectly good hotel. The one irritation is the lifts which are slow and not sufficient for the number of rooms.

The staff were fabulous. We were put in a assisted access room. Which we did not request. Lamps did not work. Our aircon did not work unfortunately and so i had to request a fan at 3am as too hot to sleep.
The maintenace team came to the room the morning after and could not fix the problem so we were moved to another room.
The aircon in the new room worked, yet the tv did not. Again we had maintenance take a look and it was not fixed.
At least we slept that evening.
The rest of the stay was good.

Check in okay. No perks or anything offered at check in and no mention of Hilton honours.
Opening the door the room had a horrific smell. Like an old foist smell mixed with chemicals and generally state odour.
I called reception who said they’d send someone from housekeeping. On closer inspection of the room it had clearly not been cleaned. Dirty and hair on the bedsheets. Black hair handing from the chair and all over the carpet- I’m red. Something smeared all over the chair leather, mould and scum in the shower. Bed sheets not even tucked in.
After 15 minutes someone came from housekeeping, basically said there was nothing she could do, we can’t open the windows to air the room out so just call reception to get a new room.
Called reception and told them twice what house keeping had said. Clearly wasn’t listening as he just kept saying wait for housekeeping. Then hung up on me. Great.
Called back and was told they would try to find a room but couldn’t tell me how long it would take. Told them, as I had discussed at check in, I was in a rush and now had only 30 minutes before I had to leave the hotel for a black tie event. She said she still couldn’t let me know and they’d call me back. I asked her if I was suppose to start getting ready or wait? I was then put on hold for another 5 minutes and eventually given another room.
This one was marginally better and looked like it had actually been cleaned. Actually had a card in there to tell you who cleaned it…other did not.

Staff were so friendly and helpful, especially at breakfast. Good location. Would likely stay again if I’m in the area. Only criticism is when you first enter the hotel, the air freshener in the lobby is far too strong. I have asthma and really found it hard to breathe. The “pleasant” smell was far too overpowering and actually smelt bad as a result. Less is more.

Great location, rooms are nice, big and you can open the windows. Refurbished decor throughout, doesn’t look great from the ground floor or outside but lovely hotel once you’re inside and a brilliant breakfast too.

Nice hotel. Great location from station. Breakfast 8/10. Staff training poor. Young staff need help to learn better customer service, bar skills, food service skills.
