Solid hotel for a family stay downtown

I chose this hotel as the location and price point met my criteria. I was in Portland visiting my son and needed to be near downtown. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of my stay. The hotel initially looked dated but as I checked in I noted how clean the lobby and how professional the staff was. This quality extended to my room which was large, super clean and very comfortable. Additional bonuses included reasonably priced parking on site and a nice breakfast provided in the morning. As the name suggests this hotel is near the University and I loved that it was close to a nice selection of food carts and public transportation.

Never again !!

The Hotel appears to be on the verge of closing. It was cold and drafty we had the mini split in our room set to 80 and it had to turn on and off every 5 minutes to keep our room warm. Receptionist was not rude but not friendly either. Water pressure was low. Soap container on the wall in the shower are no longer filled but gross soap is in them. They don't tell you that parking is extra and add it at the end. Small computer size tv. Lamp type phone charger outlets half didn't work. Mattress was soft and old. Gotta love Portland food trucks around the corner and human poop in the parking lot. Food trucks are another story . I'm not a Karen by the way. I usually find the food in things but I couldn't find anything in this one other than the location is close to OHSU.

Convenient Location

University Place is a good option if you are on a budget and want a comfortable place to stay with easy parking. The Orange line stop is right in front of the hotel, and the Keller Theater is just four blocks away. The beds were comfortable. The hotel has been renovating their rooms, it seems. The restaurant is closed at this time, which is a bummer, but the food carts around the corner have great options.

Great stay

The room was clean and comfortable. My son and I stayed two night for a medical appointment and we had everything we needed. I even worked out of the room for 1 of the days. No issues with WiFi or other connections. The breakfast was good. There is a pancake maker, cereal options, breads and muffins. Juices and coffee. Fresh fruit and yogurt.

My daughter and I stayed in a 2 bed room. One of the beds had a very deep sway in the middle of the mattress. Neither bed was comfortable. The heater was extremely loud. I expected at least to have 2 beds that were comfortable

Great place you can catch the max right after out

Can I stay there was amazing the beds were soft the rooms were especially clean everything was so clean they even had a guy out in the hallway as I was going back to my room polishing the ice machine the breakfast was pretty good they have a machine in there that makes the pancakes for you you just push your button it drops the batter and it makes it and then when it pops out the hand it's a pancake is fantastic they also and the food was good it was fresh the staff especially was amazing and they were very helpful and did everything in their power to make sure that I was a happy person when I left there I do expect to return again and go there again I had a fantastic time it is very quiet and I love the middle private balconies off the rooms that's the whole mood for the room thank you for my stay I appreciate you guys very much and I hope to see you soon Misty Ross

It’s okay but could be better.

Check-in was fine but my first room had sheets that had many hairs on them and other gross things. I asked for new sheets and was given a new room because they said they couldn't get new sheets. The new room was much better and was an upgrade from the first so it worked out anyway. The minor hassle was somewhat annoying when I just wanted to go to bed. I asked the hotel front desk for information on a USB outlet for my phone charger and they said the room had none. Upon getting into the room there were multiple USB charge ports. I also asked the front desk if they had a vending machine upstairs and they said they didn't know. Hotel staff should be more knowledgeable, especially front desk staff. Checkout was fine and my overall visit was okay and I might return here.
