ITS A MAZE TO GET AROUND AND ALL FOOD IS THE SAME GOES FROM ONE REST TO THE BUFFEY

8/10 Very good

It was a great atmosphere! Drinks were fantastic! If you tip everyone, everything is better! Most of the food could be better. Use real hamburger meat to start. Then let the chefs use their home recipes for a authentic Mexican dining experience.

This property was beautiful, the pools had bars in them, there were activities every single day, there was a place to dance, many restaurants. For early in the day there was a kitchen near the pool which served quick meals. The cafe was open 24/7. The staff was incredibly friendly, sweet, and attentive. The bathrooms throughout all of Mexico were very clean and neat. The rooms were spacious and accomodating.

This property was very dirty and run down! The pictures are old! The rooms look nothing like the pictures! My bathroom was rusted and moldy! Ants and nets were in the room as well! I also has a sun club room! You pay extra and still have a old dirty room!

Even though it was an all inclusive property, though they try to nick and dime you in every possible way. Upon arrival the frobt desk person asked if I needed room service, it would be an extra $35/person, that includes cleaning room daily. I said No and noticed room was still being clean daily. Be careful with what you accept at this resort, it could be hidden charges. Website states there are 6 restaurants inside this resort, actually there is only 4 and menu never change throughout my stays. They bring out drinks without straws, it's dusgusting to drink on cups/glasses. Not worth what i'm paying for and totally not a 4 star. This resort should be only 2 star.

This was my second time on this property. While it's not a 4-5 star hotel, you could see this place needs many upgrades throughout the property. Entertainment and food was ok, only better if you go to the two other restaurants that are bit high end. GUESTS BEWARE! Make sure you have all your personal belongings locked in the safe. Was very disappointed that my Airpods were stolen from my room. I contacted security in regards to this and haven't heard back from their investigation. Unfortunately, I wasn't the only victim at this resort. A good friend of mine also mentioned that her ring also disappeared from her room. The resort has to do better in screening their employees or have better protocols by installing better surveillance with these type of thefts being reported.

Upon check in, the wait is ridiculous, you have to fill out paperwork that could’ve been emailed to us to save everyone on time. The agent checking us in was rude, there were several people frustrated with them. We get to our room it stinks to high heaven, like sewer. The bathroom was filthy around the base of the toilet hadn’t been cleaned in months. The restaurants aren’t open very long, you’re require to wear a mask, which they only keep at the valet check in…. The waiter working at olive branch offered is drugs, you aren’t allowed to have a guest even visit your room. Our friend, female came back drunk and was made to leave and escorted off the property. The bars are always missing the staff, when you want a drink. Its a great hotel if you are balling on a budget. This was our first visit to Tulum. We saw a 1000 other places we would’ve rather stayed . DO your research!!

The only thing we liked was ocean view from our room. We had to call numerous times for housekeeping that would show up really late. Private pool area was so dirty that we couldn’t use it at all, after a couple of complains still no one showed up to clean that day. There were no clean towels to use for the pool or beach , staff member said he had no towels at the dino park and then gave us only one( it was 3 of us), we could see he had a whole bunch but didn’t want to give it to us. Upon arrival they talked us into visiting a sister hotel to just check it out and promote it to our friends, to have free breakfast, in return they will give a discounted room upgrade, it ended up being a sales meeting where they try to sell you something similar to time share but “better”. It was so frustrating as we wasted 4 hour there where 3 people one after another tried to sell you even when we said numerous times we weren’t interested. Food is mediocre, not much of the seafood options at all, everything is meat or in meat, we def had better food options while traveling to all inclusives. This hotel supposed to be a 5 star but would give it a 3.5!

The site the property is on is fantastic, great snorkelling in front of the property, wildlife throughout the property & super freindly helpful staff. The property is older and a bit run down & it seems management is working hard to control costs by limiting acess to buffets etc. The buffets were quite limited & a bit mundane. One very nice point was there was no limit for the number of visits to or a requirement for a reservation to the alacarte resturants. They were quite good with the possible exception of Mario's. Mario's had a very limited menu & really sad pizza. Drinks we're well made, The time bars were open was a limiting but you quickly learned the schedule. Our room was in an older section of the resort & was quite small & a bit tired. Our huge patio more than made up for the room. From the patio we had great ocean & jungle views with lots of birds & the large patio doors allowed us to open the room up & enjoy everything. The resort is a bit far from anything but having been to the area before we knew about using the local collectivos to go to Playa del Carmen or other area attractions. If you're planning a visit to the area I suggest learning about how to use the collectivos. Cabs are REALLY expensive. The resort's location & staff are the jewels of this property. I suggest ensuring you get at least a partial ocean view room as a portion of the resort that is by the Kids area (Dino Land) is quite a hike from the beach & is where the jungle view rooms are.

We were concerned about our trip due to the reviews. Upon arrival we were greeted and assigned a room. We upgraded to a club ocean front view at the time we made our reservation. Our room was nice and our view was amazing. There was no deck or balcony which was a little disappointing but they did have some available. We did not choose to upgrade. The food was not as bad as the reviews said. Buffet pretty typical on a smaller scale, restaurants were ok. It seemed like they had several sections for the kids so that was probably helpful for families with kid menu preferences. My husband and I both had a massage that was wonderful other than it was right by the family pool so you could hear everything going on outside. My big complaints are the service at the bars. They have no one on the beach or at the bar to take your orders. You have to go to the bar and get them and lines were long. There is a simple solution for this. Hire more people. People that need a job. I tipped less on this trip than any trip ive been on in Mexico because there wasnt anyone to tip. They also only have beach chairs for about 2/3's of their guest. You would have to get up by 6:30 to put a towel out in order to get a chair. These are simple solutions. Buy more chairs. They were cheap plastic ones so spend the money. Overall we had a good time. Would i go back? Maybe but i would try other Akumal resorts first.

When we arrived, we were approached by a sales guy to attend their sister resorts club tour. They said it would only be 1.5 hrs and would receive an upgraded room. We found out from another guest that it took all day to attend, so we opted out. Both rooms we had reeked of black mold. All of our clothes continued to stay damp, the sheets on the beds, my make up brushes, my luggage, purse, and shoes all still smell like the room. I’ve washed my hair and clothes 4 times since we’ve been back, they still smells like the mold. Our bodies are inflamed from the conditions that we were staying in. Two days in a row, I had to walk all the way to the front desk to ask them to send house keeping to give us towels, they made out beds, took our old towels, and never gave us new ones. I couldn’t call from the room because our phone wasn’t working. When we tried to plug it in, we both got electrocuted. I informed the front desk about that as well, nothing was done about it. Our first room that was the upgrade, the air conditioner wasn’t working, the tub needed to be repainted, the water coming out of the faucets had a moldy/hard water aroma. Same in the new room that we went too. In order to go to all restaurants and the rooftop bar, you either had to take an upgraded room with the tour or be part of their sub club, I’m sorry, but if it’s “all inclusive” it should be all inclusive. Food at buffet was amazing-breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

2/10 Poor

We made a reservation In the all-inclusive hotel sun scape akumal, Mexico, riviera Maya, for the date 09/10-09/14, from the moment of arrival it was a complete disappointment Lobby: 1- there are no signs indicating wet floor, or under construction or renovation. 2- Musty smell. 3- roof displaced by moisture, and leaking from the ceiling 4- Wet, broken, damp and smelly sofas. 5- due to the location of the room they offered us, we were forced to make an upgrade. Room: 1- Deliver the room late, later than 4:00pm 2- when arriving at the room, completely dirty, from the previous visitors 3-dirty bathroom 4- Penetrating smell of moisture 5- deteriorated curtains with moth holes 6- Dirty Jacuzzi with dead insects 7- sinks with live pests (cockroaches) 8- When I finish bathing, as I was opening the towel, a scorpion jumped on me. 9- walls with mold or mildew completely visible. Swimming pool: 1- completely dirty. 2- with the unpleasant surface due to lack of cleanliness/hygiene. 3- paint and ceramic stirring, which proved cuts in the soles of the feet. 4- horrible bar service by the pool, where we were denied drinks for lack of glasses... to which we later realized that they collected the dirty glasses in bags of garbage... Damaged, yellow, and cracked glasses Restaurant: 1- utensils, crockery, tables, chairs, in very poor condition, which can cause physical cross-contamination... 2- the food labels did not match what was offered, which could have caused a lot of danger,

I probably won’t stay here again.

We book this resort based on the amenities it included. When we booked it, it said we had room service 24/7. Turned out when we checked in that we had to Pay an extra fee. If this is an all inclusive resort why were they charging us a fee. Pool bars close at 5:30pm. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The kids pool bar wasn’t open during my stay. Not even sure when they open it but if it’s a family / kid friendly resort it’s pointless. Food was good and drinks were good too. overall I think this resort needs more staff and some more attention to detail.
