Everything was great! Can't beat watching the sunset from that balcony. Very cool apartment building to the rocks with lots of interesting details. Well thought out! Double bed but also twin in loft. Would come back!

Superbe endroit! Vue à couper le souffle dans une belle grande maison d’un décor tiré du passé. Le coucher du soleil sur notre terrasse de la cabine 6 était splendide. Bon déjeuner fourni directement à la cabine. Cuisine complète et salle de bain correcte. Il faut marcher en pente pour s’y rendre avec les bagages, la communication a été plus difficile car je ne parle pas portugais, il n’y a pas de réception, il y a peu de restaurants aux alentours. Un petit lézard est venu nous visiter dans notre lit la nuit, nous avons trouvé cela drôle et cocasse. Je recommande très fortement cet endroit!

Beautiful place to spend the night; I was upgraded to the #1 house because of flooding from rain. It’s awesome and cozy. Snacks and fruit on arrival. Castle and such are all right there. I came in January; do plan on bringing food with you as options are closed/limited.

Amazing and Unique!!!

We had the most amazing stay at this very unique hotel! We are a family of 4 traveling with another family and decided to stay at this very cool hotel for the experience to be up by the castle and boulders! Wow it did not disappoint! We understood from other reviews that food was limited so we bought wine and charcuterie style foods and brought with us. The hike up with luggage and food is a lot as cars can’t park up close so the hotel staff drove to meet us to empty our car and bring our stuff up. So helpful! We had the larger house reserved and our friend’s had the balcony suite. We had wine and food out on their balcony and enjoyed the sunset. Then we took an evening walk up to the castle and had the unique experience of seeing the castle at night! Breathtaking! One of our favorite stays hands down!

Lovely property. The amenities were fine however the one air con unit for heating was not sufficient for the size of the room. The distance you have to park from the unit is really uncomfortable for getting luggage there. The delivery of freshly cooked bread rolls in the morning is a lovely touch.

We arrived early, and luckily the concierge arrived 20 minutes later as we were in 31 degree heat. Did not realise we had to phone ahead. It is among very, very steep cobbled paths. No parking facility. However, we were made to feel very welcome. The welcome pack was gratefully received. This really is a self catering unit as there are no good restaurants in monsanto and the kitchen is well equipped. Unfortunately, we were right opposite a long term building site, (started 2019) with building materials against our wall and dug up pathway. No activity on site while we were there. We loved the peacefullness of the area, but can imagine it could get busy as monsanto is a tourist attraction. Shout out to the local grocer, he even supplied us four potatoes from his own supply!

What a dream We immediately fell in love with this area and property. The views cannot truly be captured by a camera or words but let me try …. Breathtaking. The feel is comfortable and relaxed. We were greeted by hotel (I wish I recalled his name, I’m sorry) who showed us everything and even lead us back down to a grocery store to pick up dinner food !! Wow Fresh bread delivered in the morning. This is a great place to disconnect from the world and just enjoy tranquility. Oh ya and the castle is a short walk up a hill and it’s stunning ! Wear good shoes and prepare to do some walking … you’ll be be having so much fun, you’ll forget the incline.

Loved the rustic decor and the huge boulders making up part of the apartment. The accommodations had everything you could possibly need, in fact more, as there was a large variety of fruit, beverages, and other edibles. The view from the balcony was indescribably beautiful. We are seniors celebrating our 47 anniversary and were delighted with this spot.❤️

Boulder made houses .

Nice location. We were in off season so very limited restaurants and shopping.Very beautiful town with incredible views. Not sure if parking is accessible in high season. The villa is very high in the village so not accessible we a car.

Of our two week trip in Portugal, this was by far our favourite place. The little touches were appreciated (basket of fruit and little goodies). The bed was comfy. The best part was the view, wow!!!!!!! Eating dinner on the patio was priceless. The communication was great and the breakfast was yummy. Having a house build into a rock was pretty incredible. Loved Monsanto!!
