We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Calathea. The staff were very helpful and amazing. We stayed in the clean bird room, the bathroom was big and we had a nice balcony to ourselves. The only reason why I am giving a 5-star overall is because the breakfast was a bit bland. If the question is if I would stay at this property again, I definitely will!

In the clouds

1.5 Km from center of village. But you have the option to use the walkway along main road to walk up to center. Very quiet location. Room great and the staff very helpful if asked. For early birds, you can order sandwiches and fruit for take away.

Wonderful price for a wonderful apartment. Me and my mom stayed here. Each got our own room. There is a living room, complete kitchen with microwave, fridge, stove and utensils. Also, there is a nice balcony to sit outside. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay her again.

No hot water in the morning

The stay was fine but there were a lot of bugs since they left the window in the bathroom open. The hot water supply is unreliable. It tends to go out in the morning. So it is hard to know if you can take a shower in the morning or not. During our last day, the ceiling starts to leak. Wish the TV was bigger and better quality as it is impossible to cast from our smart devices onto the TV, and the internet web browser interface from the TV is very hard to use. During the rainy season, this is a major issue as there is not much to do when it is pouring rain outside. The utensils in the kitchen are also very old and need an upgrade. The rubber soup spoon is sticky (due to worn out plastic) and all the teflon pots are badly scratched up. The staff were really nice and the chef cooked a really delicious breakfast.

The room was very spacious and clean at a unexpectedly low price (which included breakfast), and the staff (two people I dealt with (young man who worked front desk in afternoons and nights and young woman who worked morning and early afternoons) were amazing in how they helped me to make sure I got rides for tours and picked up to go to next town since B&B isolated )

The staff does not like Americans so there is no way id go back. The cooks in restaurant were just plain nasty towards me on the visit and unwelcoming. We never got the free breakfast once. Even when we asked. The guy Glenn was the only accommodating one. The room has no ac and no hot water. This is also in a noisy neighborhood. Parking was extremely cramped. Back to back cars. I wouldn't stay here again.
